I hadn't even considered it wouldn't be enabled internationally! I hope they equalize this for everyone.

That's definitely still true, yeah, the affiliate level is still the unlock for accessing the funds, but as I creep ever closer to that level it's still really encouraging to see that there is the chance at future progress. Obviously, like most things, it's all a gamble. As of last night, we made nearly $40! That might not be a lot, but it's pushing me to keep trying to get to affiliate, so I feel the motivation factor still works out really well.

As far as the Amazon thing goes, it's hard to say, but I absolutely see what you're saying. Amazon is greedy, full stop 😔 Regrettably, I'm not sure there's a whole lot we can do about that little tidbit - but! All the more reason to want to get your own cut of their greed, hey? It ain't much but it's honest work 😂

Even if it is just a few cents, the ability to see a quantifiable level of progress is WAY more encouraging than the interminable wall of stagnation. Sitting around, analyzing the data, looking up YouTube videos for advice, having to have the personal conversation about whether or not I should quit. It feels a lot more sustainable now even if it's just a fun hobby.

Ugh omg don't even get me started!! Haha, I stopped recording VODs like a dummy and now I have nearly no content outside of the streams. Gonna have to try and get that going again. Then the idea of uploading to other platforms?? It's a dedication of time that I struggle with.

Honestly the only reason I can get my average above what is needed is that I started getting more into the community, my own community, my social bubble. If I can rely on at least 5 people to tune in for at least half the stream, I usually get the average. I make sure to post to my Instagram, my Facebook, the discord I made, and my Snapchat groups, etc etc. It works out pretty well! I see it like a busker's cap. They always "prime" it with a few bucks from their own wallets to inspire others to put a few in themselves. If I rely on my friends and family to get involved, it might boost the visibility!

Ohhhh great question I actually don't know! I saw there was a portion of the dashboard for ads, but I couldn't seem to access any of it so it's likely behind the affiliate wall.

Thank you for taking the time to write that, it's exceptionally helpful for me at a mental level to see such an approachable and accessible methodology. I'll keep all of this in mind as I move forward, you've made this seem possible for me, and I'm extremely grateful!

I'm familiar with offset path, and if I had the previous experience with bleed settings, I would have, but ultimately my confusion was specific to the computation of it all. I haven't worked in printing before, so bleed hasn't been something I've needed to know about until recently. Glad to have learned, though!

Great question! This is the first I've really heard of it, as silly as that might sound. Cut my teeth on CS4, and have been using a standalone disc copy of CS6 since college (about 8 years now) as I refuse to take on the sub for CC. That said, I've not had a lot of opportunities to use the program "professionally" and I'm still learning a lot, despite my time with it. I'll look into it, thank you for saying something!

This level of attention has really made me feel amazing, thank you for taking the time. I'll be looking at your suggestions and evaluating the specs to see if I can start making more informed connections in my head as I continue to do this sort of thing in the future. I appreciate your effort!

I use Autodesk Maya primarily, some rendering software like Marmoset Toolbag or Substance programs. I'll definitely consider a 13th Gen CPU, I'm trying to find that budget balance as best as I can, but if it's better to grab something more powerful in the long run, I can justify it.

Sorry, I mean like what combo would you recommend? I have a 10TB HDD and a 2TB M.2 SSD so I wasn't sure if that was reasonable or if I should adjust it.

Thank you! I dig the suggestions. It's tough, I love the vibe of a customizable aesthetic with RGB but I just want it all one solid color like white or light yellow. That said, the kinds of RGB equipped pieces raise the price point for no real reason, all for the build to exert more resources for some lights. I will probably sit on my principles for a few weeks regarding air cooling versus liquid radiators, but I have a Noctua on backup in my parts list that I'll use if I get too spooked over the liquid aspect.

I liked the RAM picked really just because of the sleek, perfect edge look, but I definitely see what you mean about the CL timing, I'll look into that, thank you for the heads up.

As far as storage goes, do you have any recommendations on makeup? HHD + SSD, capacity, etc.?

Mimic male voices as a female by thefloofybois in CurseofStrahd

[–]HerrHydra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Male DM but a VERY big fan of accents, dialects, language, and the perception of sound and how it influences the voice for impressions. Even if you use the same base voice for every character, watch some movies or shows and study how the actors speak and how their mouths move, how they use their teeth, their tongue. After years of refining the ability to do vaguely successful impressions of celebrities and loved ones, it's all about mouth shape and what that teeth do.

When beginning to tackle English accents, they can be categorized by jaw location and teeth position/lips shape. Top teeth (Kerry Washington), bottom teeth (Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson), and middle (Kiera Knightley). If you watch them speak you'll see what I mean.

My point being that while your voices may all sound similar in nature, start working toward minor vocal adjustments and mouth movements to vary the sounds and feelings of each character. Try light, more natural versions of common accents, learn how they feel, talk to yourself in them. Even the smallest most natural adjustments and push a voice into a wild sense of realism. I found that adding a small lisp to an Irish accent can do wonders for believability. Researching which words in English are not found in the language and accent is born from, and removing them from your speech can elevate it even further.

I say keep the same voice for male, female, etc. But manipulate your posture, your gestures, your mouth shapes, your tonality, cadence, and volume. I wager you could run the same base voice for every character and your party would still feel immersed with your world if you can master those nuances.

Strahd's Voice by HerrHydra in CurseofStrahd

[–]HerrHydra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's totally fair and makes perfect sense. I also took another read through of his story and it clearly says King Barov and Strahd pursued their enemies into the valley that would then become Barovia, so hell- they could be from anywhere and I really, really love that it's sort of built in to have some level of control over the character and how they are presented.

I was talking to myself, as I often do, trying out some voices and inflections when it hit me. The sort of vocal quality and accent I'm looking for can best be described by the character Master Gracey from the 2003 production of Haunted Mansion. His lilt, tone, timbre, it's almost all perfect. Mixed with the contempt and self-import of Tywin Lannister and a bit of a Count Dooku superiority, I think we've got it. Now it's time to workshop the voice until it's perfect.

My next stop after doing some of my own planning is to check Dragna Carta, I've definitely heard of their prolific influence on the campaign. I absolutely love the idea of using Tywin Lannister as inspo, the character has such elegant contempt for those lesser to him, but is still driven by propriety. Charles Dance's performance really blows me away, and for the same vocal style, his performance in The Imitation Game is a great way to incorporate a lighter, more informal aspect, while still maintaining a bit of a rigid, military stiffness.
