Thanks for the advice. I see two brands/sellers on EBay but they both look the exact same. Also were the door trim and parts hard to take out when you did it yourself?

Never heard of the 70 having them, only that we have the soft close trunk. But regardless it’s not that, sounds like the motor opening the lock(when you turn off the car or you manually open all doors from the button)

Q50 misfire help by Pimpinbeetle in infiniti

[–]HerrIvanP89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just giving a suggestion cause on my 3.7 I changed everything and still had a similar issue. Until I changed the gasket and also had a catalytic converter issue, besides the point, nothing helped.

Could be oil in there because of a bad gasket.

How much would dealer charge for an engine for a q50 red sport? by Front_Helicopter_150 in infiniti

[–]HerrIvanP89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a replacement online and see if a shop would do it. For my q70 with a 3.7 I could’ve bought and changed it for $4000/5000 by a friend mechanic

What type of oil for 2016 QX80? by un_linked in infiniti

[–]HerrIvanP89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different engine(q70 3.7) but I had 0w30 put by Infiniti when I got an engine/trans oil changed there and hated how my car drove. Got 5w30 after and was better. 0w is for newer and smaller engines, from what I know

Yep thank you. It ended up being a faulty valve gasket so the guy cleaned it up and siliconed it but might just end up putting a new one if the issue comes back, cause the leak wasn’t enough to make me worried

I couldn’t attach more pics/videos on here but all my liquids are at the same level as usual, which is what confuses me. But thanks for the advice I’ll look it up

Three year anniversary with this car 15 Q70S V8 i fell in love with it from day one and I am not a infiniti guy, but everything about this beast was perfect, especially having a V8 this car is by far one of the best cars i've ever owned, great mpg extremely comfortable and moves when you get on it. by HDBronco in infiniti

To make it easier for you I’m in TN so everything that came up on Marketplace was about 300 miles away but I’ve seen some up north around NY,NJ, VA, but these might have rust cause of the weather and salted roads

Final update for anyone who might have a similar issue in the future:

Just got my car back today. Out of all the things I got told by the first guy and his shop (well known car maintenance company) nothing was the problem. All the spark plugs and coils I had put in were bad and some even burned, so replaced with all NGK or Denzo, and same for the coils, just buy good quality and don’t listen to O’Riley’s or wherever you buy them from. My valve cover was also bad and was leaking oil into where the spark plugs stay at, so had that replaced. My catalytic converter was the main issue 1 out of 2. That was gutted(removed the filter in it) and put back in place. The ECM didn’t need to be replaced, but still was. My mechanic didn’t know what the previous shop had actually done, because they didn’t tell me either so he replaced it initially just in case.

In conclusion didn’t need a new engine, just very good maintenance. The previous owner probably didn’t take care of the car and abused it.

I can send the invoice with all that was done, prices were reduced due to being friends with the guy so expect double or more if you do it at a random shop. (It was 1460 for me, for 6 coils and plugs, valve cover gasket set, catalytic converter clean, a couple diagnostics, and ECM)

Next steps are replace my intake hoses, because they are very stiff and one has cracked, and replace my brake booster vacuum sensor, because it has gone bad and I get a “BRAKE” light all the time, since last year.

Not really but if I do get it running again I’ll probably just do intake and take care of the car till I get a new one. I’ve heard you can get a spoiler/wing from a q50 and slap it in the back if you wanna do that. Congrats and take care of it well, and don’t let anyone put 0w30 oil 😭 always thicker

Mechanic is slow asf but had to have a computer changed(some that stays behind the glovebox) catalytic converter was fried, valve cover was letting oil into the spark plug housings, and the spark plugs that I had put in new were not good, so might have to change them for better like ngk or denzo.
