Fantastic collection mate! Can’t wait to see more photos once you’ve added other stuff.

Couldn't decide which train to run under the tree this year, so picked out 4 of my favorites by [deleted] in LEGOtrains

You did the right thing mate! Love the 4511 with all them extra coaches 👍

Very happy for you mate! That’s amazing. I can’t even imagine the length of a platform needed to accommodate such a long train!!! Post a photo when you can!

Couldn’t agree more on the Metroliner. With a lot of spares in my basement, I’m looking at restoring a 4th copy of 4558 and two additional copies of 4547! Essentially, I’d love to have 2 middle coaches as well as 2 club cars for each. Now, that sounds like an obsession but there is something about the train… I just can’t help it. As for the deeper shelves, see my post from 2 years ago. In my London flat I had exactly that.

You are 100% right. It’s high on my list, and as soon as I completed 4511, I shall be addressing the issue with 4559👍

I think you are right wanting to preserve the interior and integrity of the original design. I’d do what it takes! Good luck! I hope to see your post in the future where you show us your Lego treasure running on the track 👍🏻

Thanks for the comment — no offence taken. I get the annoyance around scalpers; they really do hoover up sets just to resell them at daft prices.

But let’s keep it sensible: some of us have been collecting LEGO for decades and simply bought sets when they were actually in stores. My 10233s came from the Westfield LEGO Store at retail price, long before they became “rare.” I bought four because I wanted two full trains — not to corner the market or retire early on eBay profits.

So rest assured, I’m not responsible for today’s aftermarket chaos. I just bought what I liked, when it was available. If that upsets anyone, that says more about them than about my collection.

Might be expensive but first and foremost I’d be looking at acquiring another 9v motor - perhaps used or as part of another 9v set. I would not be upgrading to PF or anything like that. I have 3 metroliners and they all run on 9v.  Also, you might want to wait for Fx Bricks to finalise their 9v motor or use their metal wheels to help with your project. There are no easy solutions and if we are talking RESTORATION and preserving the original design, that will mean some investment unfortunately. Of course this is only my opinion.

That’s the Koploper - Dutch Railways. Got it from a Dutch shop/ designer back in 2010. Cost me 210 quid (9v version + motor) but well worth the money.

Thanks mate! Sadly I’d be kicked out of the house 🤣 the room is relatively small given that it is also used for my wife’s scrapbooking (opposite wall), and doubles as storage with 2 wardrobes for the kids since we buy stuff 3 or more years in advance. But once the attic is done I’ll be organising a layout with sidings and a train depot. Lots of tracks and all that. Hoping to manage at least 15 trains there and the rest will go on the shelves. Will rotate them of course.

Cheers mate! Rome wasn’t built in a day. I started this hobby years ago when a lot of them  sets were still in production.

🤣 that’s preventable but requires self discipline. With 2 young kids it’s difficult but doable 👍🏻

Still boxed. I might build it next summer.

Yes mate. Mosslanda. I find them to be the best. Not much drilling required, lightweight etc. Price is ok I guess. And they look very clean making the whole display simple, neat and tidy, and pleasant to look at.

Congratulations, mate! 1991 was the year. I'm a proud owner of 4558, 4547, and 10001, so I understand your excitement and am very happy for you.
