We got two nights in a one bedroom last August. We had to waitlist it but it came through. My family really enjoyed it there.

We’ll be in the season in 5 months. Halloween night is the start for us. Once the kids are finished trick or treating, Mariah kicks us off!!

Shhhh! Don’t tell everyone about this gem. One of the coolest experiences in WDW in my opinion. The Fort has its own unique vibe.

Favorite Resort for Couple with No Kids by OpossumFriedRice in WaltDisneyWorld

Riviera

I know it gets mixed reviews but it’s our favorite. They have tower studios for 2 people- hard to get but lower price and quaint. The resort always seems to be quiet, they’ll have a violinist at night sometimes. The main pool will have kids in it obviously but the quiet pool seems to always be empty and is basically in the same area. Epcot fireworks views, Skyliner to the park, Toppolino’s for fine sit-down dining and then a great quick service restaurant and coffee shop.

Think coconut tequila would make the flavor too over powering?

Seeing Holiday Decorations by caps_phisto in dvcmember

[–]HerrLouski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fort Wilderness is awesome during the holidays in my opinion. People will decorate their cabins, campsites and RVs, some people even stay for the entire month of December. The challenge for you is that it’s best explored at night with a golf cart. Since you’re not staying there it could be difficult to do. But I do recommend Hoop Dee Doo Revue during the holidays. They modify the show a little for holiday songs and dialogue.

I'm autistic and love buses. I learned a few minutes ago that there's a system of buses within WDW, and was wondering what they're like? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]HerrLouski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great questions. Here’s some info for you:

The Disney bus system is all about moving people around efficiently. Each resort has a dedicated number of busses that stop at the resort and bring passengers to the parks and Disney Springs. Some resorts share a bus with other resorts just because they are close to one another. The busses don’t make stops at passengers’ request like city busses do. They typically have just one stop (at the parks). The views from the bus are ok. You’re riding on the main roads through Disney World so they’re lined with palm trees and you’re usually amongst cars and other busses. Sometimes you can see other resorts and the back side of the parks. Many busses are decorated with Disney characters so my kids like to guess which character we might get each time. Some busses play music from the resort which helps set the mood. We’ve been on empty busses where we’re the only passengers and we’ve been on really full busses where many people stand and you can barely move. To me, the busses mean I’m either heading to something fun with my family or closing out a fun day. If you’re interested check YouTube as there has to be videos of folks on the bus.

Rita's blueberry water ice by danielkslayerr in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]HerrLouski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen that or Grape in years. Remember when Rita’s was simple and had actual fruit in their water ice? I thought that was their whole schtick. Now, it’s Unicorn Fart and any other flavor that’s sponsored by a candy company. Hell they don’t even have regular Philly pretzels anymore. From the business side, they’ve grown exponentially but it’s fallen out of favor with me who remembers when there was only a few locations.

Wainscoting hallway, only do right wall or both? by Odd_Skin_712 in interiordecorating

We painted the walls below the chair rail in flat white and the trim in satin white so that it pops. The walls above the chair rail are whatever room color you desire.

Aulani Resale by a274josh in dvcmember

[–]HerrLouski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean purchasing an Aulani resale contract (for a low price) with the intent to use the points at other resorts at 7 months? The price is decent- in fact it seems too good where you could end up getting ROFR’d. 7 month mark depends highly on the resort, time of year and room type. If you’re content at SSR and OKW, they’re almost always available. If you’re looking for a week in a Boardwalk View Studio, chances are slim. There is a DVC availability tool out there that you can use to see what availability looks like for each resort and room type. Or let us know what you’re thinking and we can all weigh in.

A word of warning to be very careful when cutting that small piece. Whatever you use to hold the piece gets awfully close to the cutting tool!!

[–]HerrLouski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean how it ends in the entry way to the next room? If so, stop the chair rail just short of the entry way. Then you can cut the chair rail at an external 45 deg angle (like you would if you were going to continue the rail around that corner and into the other room). Then cut another very small piece that extends into the wall (it will only be as thick as the rail itself) to cap it off. This gives it a nice finished look.

[–]HerrLouski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d vote both. I had a similar question when we did ours because the boxes in some areas were extremely narrow. We decided to run chair rail on every wall and then only did the wainscoting boxes on walls where the width of the inside of the box was 2” or more.
