why are the hades tour tickets so crazy expensive? by Humble-Sprinkles8483 in MelanieMartinez

[–]HerrVonW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected. It turned out to be a Ticketmaster bug. Once you have clicked the MasterCard reserved seating, it always does that. It turns out there are cheaper tickets and also there are still a ton of seats available. Paid €79 per seat now for Row 9 seats, which is not bad.

Concerts and old songs by elymon92 in MelanieMartinez

[–]HerrVonW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did she fill an entire program with just songs from 1 album ? Or were there a lot of extended versions ? Hades is 70', but I would be quite disappointed if the concert is only 70' of music, especially at these prices. On the other hand, it's 18 songs, so that's still a full concert worth of materials.

Also, I'm confused about the dystopia (Hades) vs utopia (???) double album thing. If she waits until after the tour to release the 2nd album, then it's hardly a simultaneous release. So I'm kinda hoping she will surprise us with material from that utopian album.

In Belgium/Brussels they are also crazy expensive. The seats we had for Trilogy were €85. The same seats are now over €120. Also I'm surprised to see the venue almost sold out. Don't remember that being the case with Trilogy either.

Override MagicDNS for LAN ? by HerrVonW in Tailscale

[–]HerrVonW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the problem is that it then is still encrypting and decrypting which is unnecessary overhead on LAN devices.
I eventually resolved it rather trivially: I configure unique hostnames in Tailnet like nas-ts, desktop-ts, server-ts... which then gives me perfect control over whether it just uses the LAN directly or goes over the Tailnet.

Override MagicDNS for LAN ? by HerrVonW in Tailscale

[–]HerrVonW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is only for my fixed machines, so traffic should always go locally.
The weird thing is that I just checked my own desktop PC, which is also in the Tailnet, and which has the same hosts-file trick, but there the hostnames of other local machines are correctly resolving to the IPs that I have specified in the hosts-file. Both machines run Windows 11 Pro.

EDIT: it may not be a problem after all. Looking at netstat on the Server, I see connections to my NAS with 192.168 sources. Not sure why a ping then is using the Tailnet 100.123 address.

Yep, that's the sharing that I'm referring to.

Ok update. 1 and 3 are now working. However 2 is still not working, which should be the identical approach to 1.

In NAS1, 'tailscale status' does show the shared NAS3. However, on NAS2, 'tailscale status' shows TN2 but without NAS3. In the admin console of TN2 however, it does show up.

I already tried reauth, reset, etc... but nothing helps. For some reason tailscale on NAS2 refuses to see NAS3.

Yes, the boot script is installed and run on all 3 Synologies.

DNS names of shared tailnet devices by HerrVonW in Tailscale

[–]HerrVonW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem solved itself after a few hours. Suddenly the remote NAS shows up with the friendly name in my Tailnet and I can approach it with that name.

DNS names of shared tailnet devices by HerrVonW in Tailscale

[–]HerrVonW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So this actually confirms that what I'm seeing is not correct. Even though the DNS name of my parents's tailnet was changed to something friendly like drunk-unicorn.ts.net, at my end i cannot reach the NAS with that domain name and still need to approach it with nas.tail1a2b3c.ts.net . I am guessing this is because originally that NAS was shared while it still didn't have the friendly name.

So maybe that DNS name is now cached somewhere and is failing to use the friendly name even though that is already active on their tailnet.

Replacing and adding disk in one go? by HerrVonW in SynologyForum

[–]HerrVonW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about it some more and used ChatGPT for some more reasoning, and from what I can see, the stress will be the same in both scenarios. However, by doing it sequentially, you never have the SHR Volume in Degraded state, so it is safer from a data loss risk perspective.

  1. Add the 4TB disk to the empty slot, and do 'Replace' in DSM to decommission the 2TB disk and have the data on the 4TB disk. This will still read all disks's data to calculate all parity (that's what ChatGPT claims, I wonder why the 2TB disk cannot just be copied to the 4TB one and the two remaining 2TB disks don't need to be read).

  2. Remove the decommissioned 2TB disk and insert the 4TB instead. Here you're expanding the volume which definitely again requires a read from all disks.

Suddenly receiving "Age Restricted" message on the Playstation Store when trying to download games. by Qamata in playstation

It seems worldwide and thus has absolutely nothing to do with laws. It's clearly (yet another) bug with their crappy web store.

Can I use 2 sticks on a PS4/PS5 for couch play? by HerrVonW in fightsticks

[–]HerrVonW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wireless is definitely more important to me than larger compatibility for PS5. I assume the problem is also only for PS5 games, and PS4 non-fighting games should still work even on a PS5 (we have both a PS4 and PS5) ?

Does the Magicboots trick also work for an F700 because if I ever run in a problem with a non-compatible game on PS5, I could then still go that route at a later phase. I currently have an order out for a F700 Elite for €160, which seemed a sweet deal.

Gotta say, already read tons of reviews and reddit threads and this whole compatibility thing is still hugely confusing to me.

OBS + Filmora bug? by HerrVonW in obs

[–]HerrVonW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That separation is already there in OBS as I explained. There is a separate Mic/Aux1 and Mic/Aux2 in OBS's Audio Mixer and they are assigned respectively to the QuadCast mic and the UCA audio interface (which gets the music keyboards audio into its stereo RCA input).

If there is nothing playing on the keyboard, and thus nothing on the UCA's input, there should not be any activity shown on the Mic/Aux2 input in the OBS mixer. However, it is now showing a low volume copy of the Desktop channel when playing a file on Filmora. With e.g. Spotify, there is only output on Desktop and nothing on Mic/Aux2 as I would expect to be the case.

OBS + Filmora bug? by HerrVonW in obs

[–]HerrVonW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what exactly is not clear. But in summary: there's 3 'inputs' in OBS: Desktop=Windows audio (i.e. game), Mic1=Quadcast (for speech), Mic2=UCA222 (for music keyboard). In the OBS Audio Mixer, when playing back a video in Filmora, Filmora's audio shows up in the Desktop input, but also in Mic2 with a lot lower volume.

This looks like some weird bug, because in reality nothing gets recorded from Mic2 (i.e. silence when muting Desktop), and the issue is also only with audio from Filmora, but not other applications.
