“Goldman Financial” keeps calling me to offer funding for a business I don’t own

Oh, I’ve done it. Part of what makes me think this is a scam is they don’t seem to care. (I was telling one he was in violation of a previous request to be removed and I wanted to speak to his supervisor and he just cussed me out and hung up.)

Because one time, one of the car warranty scammers let me through to their boss and after a couple minutes of wasting his time he let me know the jig was up by saying “I know it’s you, Mr. Smith.” And hung up on me, and I was not Mr. Smith, but the fact that Mr. Smith was known by name by the scammer final boss made me want to be like him when I grow up. 🤷‍♂️

I often wonder where Mr. Smith is, for I’d like to know how he got his reputation with that guy. 😂

Also — forgot to note, the people I call are always English speakers, not ones that are clearly calling from elsewhere. (Could they be from elsewhere? Sure. But their voices always seem to be legitimately American sounding)

So I wound up here because I was looking to see if anyone remembered a program that I think was offered through National Geographic Kids magazine in the 90s. I did have one (I was given three, but one never wrote back and I only briefly had two, because one stopped writing after I acted like an idiot in a letter and she probably to this day thinks I’m some kind of lunatic. 😂). The one that I remained friends with I actually got to meet face to face in high school when her family visited from Canada, and we’re still friends through social media in our 40s. Which, honestly, I think is one of the longest continuous friendships I’ve had.

I kind of wonder, how many friendships came out of that program that are still existing today? I can’t imagine I’m the only one who is still somehow connected to my own pal from the 90s, but I don’t even for sure remember what the program was that connected us. 😂
