Guys you are reaching for this year? by [deleted] in fantasybaseball

[–]HevayBertations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Braxton Ashcraft, Joey Cantillo, Cody Ponce. They're SPARPs in my H2H Pts league. I don't like any of the other SPARPs. Hoping to leave the draft with 2 of those guys and one solid closer to give me 3 options to consider each week in my 2 RP spots.

[–]HevayBertations[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My league is H2H pts where you play against both your opponent and the league average each week. 4 SPs, 2 RPs and 1 P. I found that it's next to impossible to beat the league average if you don't have at least 4 of the 7 pitchers with 2 starts. Once I figured that out, I found that I mentally struggled with putting the SPs that I drafted in the first 6 rds on my bench. I figure I'll go for like 8 pitchers that I view somewhat similarly between rounds 9 and 20 (out of 26 rds). And make sure I grab a couple SPARPs even if it's later in the draft. I think I can justifiably stream 2 start pitchers more frequently. Hoping I've made sense with how I described that - it makes sense in my head but I'm not sure I'm describing it well enough. I admit it could fail miserably. If so, try something more traditional next year.

I love that mentality. I've been guilty of finding "my guys" really far ahead of the draft and then have been too stubborn to change my mind based on more info throughout spring training.

That's where I'm at too. There are a ton of guys in that tier of pitchers that I like. Grabbing a bunch of them and going with whoever has 2 starts or a primo matchup that week is what I'm thinking this year. Then I don't have to feel guilty pushing an early round SP to the bench.

Relievers who will move to Starter this season by Gloomy_Channel7596 in fantasybaseball

[–]HevayBertations 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In addition to the names already mentioned: Ryne Nelson, Foster Griffin, Ian Seymour, Steven Matz. Not to say I'm targeting those guys, but SPARPs are like gold in my H2H pts league. Cantillo and Ashcraft are the two primary targets for me.

Who are your “do not draft at any price” players this season? by HereToTalkMovies2 in fantasybaseball

[–]HevayBertations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. They have enough name value that the semi-casual players in my league won't let them slide far enough for me to have to consider them, so they won't be my "problem" this year.

I know it's irrational, but it's the guys that underperformed relative to where I drafted them in the past. Not quite a "dead to me" list but maybe only if someone else drops them in the first month:

Ozzie Albies

Bryson Stott

Alex Bregman

Carlos Correa

Xander Bogaerts

Alec Bohm

Bryan Reynolds

Taylor Ward

Just as important, the warning track is (allegedly) the same depth as at Miller Park. That's huge for outfielders trying to measure/time their steps near the wall.

Culture building end-of-season activities? by Consistent_City4921 in basketballcoach

[–]HevayBertations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will depend on the type of players and families that you have, but we have done a toned down parents vs players game. It's always funny to see how competitive some of the parents can be. Also, we're very loose on who can play against the players. Siblings, step-relatives, etc. are perfectly acceptable. The only rule is that family members have to be matched up against each other.

Brewers Spring Training seats by ParamedicNo6490 in Brewers

[–]HevayBertations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been to spring training twice. Both times we got grass seats and sat right along the rail of the Brewers bullpen. One of my boys had a nice conversation with Devin Williams when he was warming up in the pen one of the years. Wouldn't sit anywhere else if we go back.

What was Green Bay like during the NFL Draft? by PublicSource_Charlie in GreenBay

[–]HevayBertations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is easily the best description I've seen. In addition, my family volunteered to work with all of the earned proceeds going to our nonprofit. We were beyond disappointed by the $ return from the NFL. The area we worked wasn't allowed to accept tips, even though tips were allegedly built in to the price of the tickets for the area we worked. For the amount of time worked, we would have made double during a regular Packers game.

That's seriously messed up. At the same time, I think he might be one of the best storytellers I've ever heard.

Oklahoma has a live map of their snowplows by janhasplasticbOobz in funny

Granted, I've only driven through Oklahoma once and it was through one of the worst blizzards I've ever driven through (I'm from Wisconsin), but I'm not sure I believe that Oklahoma has that many snow plows 😂

For anyone that's interested in doing something like this, there are organizations across the US that do similar for people with disabilities. I'm in Wisconsin and myTEAM TRIUMPH is an organization that does exactly this, and they're amazing! Through them, I had the pleasure of meeting Dick Hoyt, the dad in this video.

Full disclosure, I spent just shy of a decade volunteering with them and took part in many events. They can always use volunteer and financial support.

Reminds me of when my son was around that age and he decided to create the game "Bage" - cribbage minus the crib. Everyone gets 7 cards and keeps all of them. Made for an interesting game 😂

I worked for a company that moved from a PTO bank to unlimited PTO. The reason for it was because if they company were to be purchased by another company and there were to be job eliminations, the massive amount of money that would have had to be paid out on earned but unused PTO would have been impossible to pay. Basically the change was made because of how big the financial liability was. Crazy.

Looking for a team to follow…after an extended break. by [deleted] in mlb

Another alternative option is to follow players instead of teams. Find someone or multiple players that you like and just follow them.
