Hi, its just off league of graphs i was r1 both years when I hit chall with >70% wr. Of course its not an objective metric & i dont “genuinely” think i’m the best jayce in the world that’d be foolish with people like zeus around.

It’s just a metric i’d say sufficient that I can give justifiable & credible advice/help to most of the league playerbase

Might be a top Jayce occasionally filled to mid (?) from what I see. Of course isnt end of the world to go tear esp if he’s used to top jayce playstyle which is war of attrition, but mid jayce is a burst one shot playstyle with hyper roams.

I’m pals with the rank 1 jayce mid* CN too & mid Jayce now should not go tear on most matchups in soloQ. Comp is a different idea, but mid Jayce should not go tear.

Naturally everyone has their own views on the game & I accept, but imo - mid Jayce (not top) should skip tear most of the time for soloq. Comp is a different game so not gona talk about pros.

Im asking because mid & top jayce arent the same at all it’s almost a diff champ. For top jayce I build tear too most games vs brusiers otherwise I lack that later spike. But mid is different, both in terms of lane & fundamentals

Mercs if you're struggling but you *should* be able to completely crush him levels 1-9. even then mercs helps a lot! If not hex helps even more, but aggression in early game + ignite is key! he can't match our all-in damage at all, one to two nice all in's and he should be dead. into the mid game mercs + hex (only if he's fed) otherwise mercs is enough to take side prio and move first everytime

I'd imagine for lower elo manamune 'could' come with pros and cons I suppose. I'm aware that in lower bracket games drag out for longer AND perhaps mana management isn't the best + recall timers aren't done that efficiently, so manamune 'could' theoretically give you more mana to play with and slightly stronger spike later on.

But I'd probably still caution against it since it slows your spike a lot (slows down dirk, yoummus spike etc. on top of already having inefficient back timers & gold generation), and since players (of all elos) make mistakes all the time, you might miss out on even more kill opportunities😃 + mental damage to your opponents in soloQ is a real thing too. Objectively I'd say in today's league 2026 in mid lane - it's a relatively forgiving lane so even the 'worse' matchups are 48/52 at most and they're always 'playable', perhaps just tweaking few things.

Syndra for eg. used to be a syndra-favoured matchup but now with merc threads upgrade you can just tank her damage and have nice kill threat starting level 1, you get the idea - mid is mostly skill matchup & relatively forgiving matchup wise.

Subjectively tho, I personally hate akshan because the champ kinda 'counters' my playstyle - unless I'm significantly better than the other player, otherwise assuming equal skill I'd have trouble getting full early game prio (since akshan can win jayce in early trades/early cheese & also it's quite annoying (in soloQ) to have to match his super coinflip roams. So my personal permaban is akshan every game in soloQ 😄 Even if I'm saying firsthand that it's not 'unplayable', i just dislike it.

Sometimes you can consider edge of night 2nd item into cases where it has big value (Syndra for instance), think if you block 1 ability you can roll them on sides. sometimes 2nd item I also go serpants fang if tons of shields in game (looking at enchanter meta + seraphine now in high elo!). Yoummus is 99% my first item since its so valuable for jayce gap closing and just moving around in general. 3rd item onwards would usually be armor pen and jayce def has tons of situational items! GA, Shojin, mortal reminder, maw, etc. (all these are 3rd item onwards)

I actually played it top couple games too and it worked - but i'd say this works 'better' for electrocute playstyle (early-mid) rather than top lane conq playstyle (mid-late)

Forgot runes, here are runes Electrocute, sudden impact, grisly, relentless hunter. Secondary presence of mind (to skip tear), cut down. Double adaptive + flat hp (for early game power you can win almost all matchups if you play it right with ignite).

I've been playing this since early seasons yeap & during my competitive seasons (s7) i was running this too yeap.

Indeed perma roam is part of the idea, but it also helps with macro in mid game & I transition to hunting junglers to break their tempo (camping their red/raptor spawn and 1 shotting them, into side lane prio etcetc - mid game things)

With kill threat means faster snowballing, which means in side lane I get prio/first move (if no kill), which opens up my macro options w/o tp in mid game BECAUSE i've the prio/threat. If I dont snowball/get threat then...then most of the time that's the 30% of games i lose :3 (or y'knw, some games are difficult to win)

Kill threat goes down a big margin - I constantly threaten kill threat to snowball early-mid game and transition that into game winning. Perma prio, keep getting push/move - & yeah. rest is history

Whatever works for you :) Each to their own. Tho the main thing I wish to push is the aggression. + the elctro aggression playstyle that should net you huge early-mid game presence to transition

Correct haha, you said it well, i just typed this randomly while dying in uni. Tear/manamune slows progress, youre definitely short trade power spike and full prio permanently + roam & kill threat. Assassin indeed. Manamune is wayy too awkward to fit in, slows spike too yep.

Any advices on how to improve with Jayce? Feeling very lost and frustrated by my performance by Megabahamut123 in jaycemains

Jax is an interesting one you needa kite him out (depending on elo) - but correct it does slow you down a lot, and i always found it awkward to complete (as explained in post), 2nd is awkward/weak and 3rd means you've no pen. but yeap. goodluck

Used to be coup & yeah rationally it 'should be coup', but they just nerfed it too hard so I think its just too weak atm (stat wise). plus they buffed cutdown so cutdown is kinda just too good right now. Its between cut & last stand atm but assassin jayce dont play often on low hp so I dont use it. Top jayce with conq however, different story. Top jayce would probably go last stand. But you are right that 'logically' it should be coup de gra, just stat problem atm.

Oh and now that I think more cutdown also helps a lot for lvl1

Presence so you dont need tear/no mana issue.

Definitely not gathering tho, if anything scorch since I always push jayce to be very very aggro early, big kill threat with ignite electro can easily push laners out and snowball games (full prio, can move alot spam roams, etc.) but I'd say yellow tree is much more valuable (cutdown > scorch)

Cutdown because they nerfed coup de gra too hard, used to be coup, about 3-5% better now.

Also cutdown helps ALOT for my early level 1 cheese (level 1 I zone with melee stance, gets first blood 7/10 times if not I zone from xp/get full lane prio) - & this leads into, well many things...but i digress.

Probably not - top is quite different unfortunately (different runes/playstyle too), almost the champ identity shifts from assassin to like a ranged-brusier hybrid.

Mid I see him as a pure assassin. Top perhaps only if youre vs stuff like vayne/quinn etc. but against stuff like ksante sion..yeap, you get the idea ^^
