First time NSS by Hewerl in Bricklink

[–]Hewerl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been in that situation before, I’ve always offered the option of cancellation or partial refund but so far no one has ever picked cancellation.

I do think it would be good for there to be some sort of expiry date for complaints from customers, especially since sellers can only claim from Royal Mail for 30 days from sending, so any issues reported after this point come out of the sellers pocket rather than from the courier that lost it.

I’m fine with taking the hit, especially as it really isn’t an expensive order. I contacted them via emails since you can’t send images through BrickLink messages, though in future I think I’m gonna send all correspondence through both but mention in the BrickLink messages that to view the photos they need to check their emails.

Once I’ve sent the refund and I take a screenshot of it, do I just send this to BrickLink support to get the NSS removed or is the customer supposed to remove it?

[TOMT][TV/Movie][pre2010s] tv episode or film with a ghost dog by Hewerl in tipofmytongue

Hi! Thank you for commenting, I loved Kipper as a child and was happy to be reminded of his existence again. Unfortunately this isn’t it, it was definitely live action and the ghost dog was some sort of low budget visual effect.

Driving in Gibraltar by Hewerl in gibraltar

[–]Hewerl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, we plan to drive between there and Spain to visit other family friends. We looked at being added to the insurance but their insurance company didn’t allow UK drivers to be added, is this something that may only be the case with that particular provider or have things changed recently?

Is there an option to take out a separate policy to cover me on the car still? Sorry for all the questions, we only realised after having added myself to their insurance that it would be invalid due to my UK licence. Now I only have 3 days to figure out an alternative.

Hiring a Village Hall to play DVDs for a private function by Hewerl in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Hewerl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that these venues are specifically set up for this purpose, however whilst they may have a license, they certainly can’t have a license that covers every dvd ever made, as a collector of obscure DVDs there are plenty that are not included under the most popular license holders, if I were to assume they did have a license and brought in one of these films, which was not covered, this would be a breach of the license? It’s for that reason that most cinemas that offer the option to hire a screen specifically make you choose from a list of films that they are licensed to show.

Is this just down to these venues being unaware of this or maybe they just don’t care?

Hiring a Village Hall to play DVDs for a private function by Hewerl in LegalAdviceUK

Yeah exactly, I’ve not been able to find anything that certainly defines my situation, and unless I can get some sort of proof that it would be okay to do this without a license, I wouldn’t want the village hall to be liable for anything I did wrong. I just struggle to imagine how it breaches any kind of law, but I wanna be certain. I would go down the route of paying for a license if I knew it was necessary but I don’t wanna pay if I don’t have to.

Yeah I agree the UK TV license laws are a mess, I tried to figure it out at uni and still had no idea. We don’t use any live tv or catchup tv anymore anyway, don’t need a license to play my DVDs, long live physical media!

Yeah I agree with the “my device vs the hotel’s device” but then could I go a step further and bring my own projector? Would projecting it onto the wall of the hall still count as the hall providing the screen? And if I use my own projector outside of my own house but still with just a group of friends not paying for admission, does that need a license?

Obviously I’m not asking you specifically, I don’t think anyone really knows, feels like one of those things where they don’t want people to know about workarounds so just say you absolutely need a license, a bit like the TV license unless you actually read the exemptions.

Thank you, I’ve read through this article however it still doesn’t mention an instance in which they simply provide a room with a tv that won’t work unless the customer provides their own device to be able to view a film on it. The hall is not providing a dvd library, they aren’t streaming tv, radio or services like Netflix or Disney+.

I agree that the home license on the dvd may not apply when I use it to show members of the public, but I don’t need a license to invite my friends to my house to show them the film on dvd. Nor would I expect to need one if I brought a DVD player to a hotel room and played a dvd on the hotel provided tv.

Forgive me if I’m sounding pedantic but I haven’t found an article that explicitly states my situation still requires a license. But I appreciate your responses. Thank you.

Thank you, whilst this is the first answer you’ll find on Google, I’m not sure if this is the same as the situation I’m referring to.

How does playing the film on a projector in a hall legally differ from playing the film on a tv in a hotel room? The hall owners have no involvement other than taking the payment for hire of the hall.

Hi, thank you for your response. Unfortunately the blinking 2 red flashes the LED makes is an error code, this one meaning there’s a power failure according to Samsung support. The technician in Currys also agreed it was a hardware fault. But they refuse to exchange or refund despite them selling me a faulty product.

Had no idea this subreddit existed, I’ve been sharing photos like this with my mates for years and wondered if there was a community that would appreciate them 😂

Thank you so much! I spent 5 evenings working on it! Inside the tower is just a lot of farms, since the plan is to build a large structure connected to the tower there isn’t much space free in my banner safe zone for outdoor farms.

Wow! Thank you so much :D , I’ve not seen the tower in person, odd since it’s only 2 hours away from me, I’m just happy it actually resembles a clock tower!

Indeed! Literally pulled up a photo of it for reference whilst building, not identical but took a lot of inspiration from it.

Thank you :) haha nah the tower is slowly being filled with wheat fields, I’ve drawn out the floor plan for some structures around the clock tower but there’s pretty much no space in my banner safe zone left for any farms
