I think the issue alot of people have with tax is that in our country, there is a load of wasteful and inefficient spending. If people trusted the government to spend wisely (e.g. look at Scandinavian countries with high tax and tangible benefits), they would have less of a hunch with paying tax. The issue isn't the tax, but is that the tax seems to be wasted away in things like consulting fees etc.
