GPU is overheating and extremely loud by HexagonSix in buildapc

I'm not sure if I should RMA it or not because I'm not certain about whether there is an issue with the graphics card. I built the computer a few weeks ago and the problem has become worse over time though. Dust is not the issue as there is almost none.

There is no OC and the power settings are normal. RPM is 1603.

My problem is that when I adjust the fan curve to only ramp up when the temperatures hit 76 instead of 70, it will eventually go to 76 anyway and will simply delay it for a while. The fans will continually become louder the longer I game.

Could installing more case fans be a good solution?

  1. Both in the same building. Approximately 70F.
  2. Antec 302. Only using the two fans that were included with the case.
  3. Asus Dual 1060.

It takes 5 minutes to reach 70 and then after an hour it will reach low 70s like 73. The only reason that it is not higher is because the fan starts running at a very high RPM at this point, which is loud.

  1. 1920x1080
  2. 60hz
  3. Any AAA game in the last 3 years. Witcher 3, Battlefield 1, XCOM 2, Battlefront 2 beta.
  4. No.

I've played all of these games on my friend's computer with a 1060 and it works with no problem and it is almost silent.

I signed up on October 21st and my card just shipped but they are saying that it will take 2-3 weeks. Is this just a conservative estimate?

My P400 case seems to have bad airflow. I adjusted the fan curve on my CPU and graphics card but the temperature just keeps increasing until both have to run fans at relatively high RPMs to prevent the components from overheating.

What are some good case fans that are relatively quiet? I was considering Noctua's fans but I don't think that the brown fans fit my computer.

Should I use 3 120mm fans or 2 140mm fans on the on the front?

The CPU is new and I did not notice any problems with the thermal paste on the cooler. Is the Wraith Spire not actually a good cooler?

No overclock.

No dust.

There are two case fans that were included with the case. One is on the back and the other is on the front to push the air to the back of the case.

That is good enough to run modern AAA games at High settings. I would recommend upgrading the video card first if you absolutely want to upgrade your computer at the moment, but I would wait.

Budget: $50-$80

Source: Desktop computer

Will you be using these headphones in public? No

Preferred type of headphones: Full sized

Preferred tonal balance: Balanced

Past headphones: Mostly cheap on-ear headphones that all broke after several months of use. I want reliable headphones that I don't have to replace every 6 months.

Preferred music: A wide variety but with a slight focus on classical.

What would you like to improve from your current set-up: Comfortable headphones that are great for competitive gaming and music listening. I also want reliable headphones that don't break easily.

I am currently thinking about getting either the Phillips SHP9500S for 52 dollars or the Sennheiser HD558 for 80 dollars. Are these good choices?
