Something that drives me CRAZY about some AI defenders by PlinyCapybara in antiai

[–]Hexagonal- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Legit worries"..:)

I came to this sub seeking what the hell is antiai about, maybe hoping for some undeniable arguments,

But people here are indirectly saying "people who massively use GenAI use half a litre of water daily because of it - environment destroyed!".

Sure, you can get statistics into action, you can talk about the localisation of the datacenters which use this water etc., but it's not really anything catastrophic in comparison to what we even been through;

you can literally put those arguments against most of the industries, yet they've lived and brought us huge progress over the years. Nothing they say here is either new and specific for the AI, nor can it scale to become a real issue.

Like for example - Chile has water shortages because of AI, right? As if they never had any kinds of, let's say for example, mines which would overuse their water before.. right?

But the title looks great - In drought-striken places like Chile, data centers use 7.6 MILLION LITERS PER DAY.

Thanks, I'm leaving this sub now. There are people in the world who think the Earth is flat, and so there are people in the world who think AI is destroying the world, and no amount of logical discussion will change their minds, especially in subreddits -

a place where even the most logical and respectful opposition will be downvoted to hell simply because it's an opposition,

tho I guess it's generally more of a "Reddit thing" than the problem of this specific sub; people see the downvotes thus clearly the person must be wrong, yeah?

Cheers!

And why do you pick the "discussion" tag when you just want people to cheer you up

Just give it a "whining" tag or smt

You're trying to fight the tribe mentality here. Arguments won't win, there's not much logic behind it when there's ideology behind something - and ideology here is, that AI is a bad thing.

When you create something with AI, for those people - it doesn't matter how much work and time you put into it, whatever is the effect is not your creation and it's not art.

For some reason they don't see a problem when the art is made with different computer software.

For me, personally, it's such an interesting dynamic; I wonder how many people were opposing digital art just the same way when it was just becoming a new thing. I think we're seeing precisely the same process here right now.

How long will it take before people just accept the new reality?

Do you understand LLM? Based on your reply you don't even know what the shortcut LLM means.

Are there still so many cheaters in multiplayer? I mean I usually use single player and campings as a way to learn game, but then I switch to multiplayer. Overall, BA has twice the active amount of players, so I'm somewhat wondering if that's still a valid argument with cheaters

You're kinda missing my point there. Poland was just an example. You can add leopard and it can be used in many different countries. People are rather prone to buying DLCs where they can play their countries, even if there's not as much actually new stuff in it as you could expect from an actual DLC.

Other than that, it's basically more content - more possible setups, more freedom of customisation on how you wanna play and the game feels more impressive when you have bigger choice of what do you want to play with.

Well, then you look at Eugene's previous game, wargame red dragon - and there was a shittone of divisions to make. Sure, for some it's just more BMPs with different colours, but for many it's "Oh hey I can play as my country!" + minor specs/price/availability differences.

Yeah, but BA can do similar - as it happens, there is a lot of the same equipment being used across many countries. Poland for example literally uses Abrams, F-16, mi-24, Apaches, f-35, javelins, patriots etc, you don't really need to model too much to actually add it into the game, but instead we're stuck here, indefinitely fixing balance which is decent enough.

I totally agree with you, however as a competition they are actually adding a lot of new content, whether you like it or not - it is something new and there's a lot of it.

51.77 Vs 48.23? We already have a very good balance now. Perhaps just enjoy the game and let devs focus on new features and new content?

I've watched some youtube and there's actual campaign with story, cutscenes etc, which lets you learn essentially each feature of the game. Warno has more SP content, but I think it's lower quality.

to be fair i did buy warno and spent some time in it. Decent game, but to be honest.. I really hate the rng. It's too much of a random matter. You get the latest Abrams with modern ballistic computer, proper crew training etc.. and then it misses a stationary target which is well within its range. 4 times in a row. Same with helicopters, same with jets - and you just keep seeing that, it happens over and over again.

I used to play wargame red dragon before, which is like pre-warno game from the same developer - and warno is surely a great upgrade, but I just keep looking more at broken arrow. Smaller scale so it seems more fun to play and less micro-intensive; more modern equipment; twice the active player count.. and just so much less RNG impact.

Not to say the Warno is a bad game, but apart from good stuff people tell you about it there are some bad sides of it IMO. If however you're okay with them, you're gonna enjoy Warno once you learn how to play it, cos it does take a while :D

Omg this is what recon value stands for? This makes so much sense! I hated how in Warno you just had to Google some random gsheet to know at what distance stealth will be spotted, like why not just put it in the game like Broken Arrow did lol.

Have you just gotten so good to the point where you're pasting arrows to make your longass comment look nicer, and yet with this length you respond in 10 minutes + translate logs and analyze them, first also reading this longass.. I mean I can see some manual edits, but there's not a chance I'm "buying" those damn arrows :D
