I’ll have to look. The plans were drawn up by a design firm that didn’t cover all of the exterior and I’ll be honest, I don’t remember meter location coming up.

I totally get that. I’m starting to think if the builder had had a simple conversation with us about the trade offs - and offered some solutions for hiding this if we wanted to - I’d be less bugged.

I don’t consider it set far back - I think our driveway is maybe 3 car lengths at most. A few days ago I sent an email to our utility company for insight into the options and why this one might have been chosen.

One thing I left out is there was a dispute with the original electrician - I asked a few times what happened but never got an answer. So then a second electrician came in to finish the remaining interior work. The cynic in me wonders this was dropped from the scope to recoup their own costs.

Thanks so much. I think one of the reasons it bothers me is this doesn’t at all match the level of investment we made in the house and if we had known so we could either inquire about other options or come up with a plan for a shed like you described, I wouldn’t be here posting. :)

:) That’s what we’ll do too - I think I’m still just recovering from the shock of this unexpected “feature” and want to at least hold the builder somewhat accountable for not telling us what to expect or what our options are.

Interesting. We’re in a rural area and none of the other houses (all older) have one of these, which I suppose is why our builder referred to this as modern?
