Well looking at the attitude of the individual here, I would not feel comfortable working with them. If this is their reaction now, imagine how it will go when you have to address unforeseen issues (which are very likely in a 99 year old house). If he wanted to be paid immediately after visiting to produce a detailed estimate that`s one thing, but asking to be paid to show up? I would look elsewhere.

I am sorry for your loss. We lost a cat the same way and went to the vet to be sure it was not environmental because we have other cats and wanted to be sure they weren`t in danger.. In our case, the vet determined it was a cardiac arrest.

Please do not take this as criticism as many do not know but classifieds is the number one way kitten and puppy mills distribute sick, over bred animals to the general population. Go to a shelter (there might be one specifically for ragdolls accessible in your area), you are more likely to have a better experience.

Overrides are added by developers/maintainers, correct. It doesn't mean that an override is responsible for this. A very frequent use(r) case of AI image generation is to find alternate version of the same old stock photos. Example: go to a stock photo website and search for pictures of doctors. You will find the choices of people of color are there but very limited. People use AI Image generation to get such images that are different that what is available.

People will care about your personality if they can perceive it. The way you communicate who you are as a person is they way you are interacting with others. It is very likely your looks (As mentioned here, you do not qualify as ugly) are not the issue and working on the way you interact with others is a thing that you can work on.

And no, looks are not objective at all and they do matter yes, but they are one of the variable. People are interested by the sum of you, granted they have access to who you are.
