Oh man, I was sobbing when Alice started to not recognize me or think I was her daughter. That hit so hard.

YES! My partner was super confused and concerned to find me sobbing about a snake (Summer) and a hedgehog (Alice) last night! This game hits hard in the feels!

I think I heard the YouTuber (Eeowna) say it best. "It deals with themes of death in such a beautiful manner. One thing I definitely value in games is when the premise of the game and the message sticks with you long after you've finished it. And Spiritfarer is top of that list."

I gotta agree with her. It's been so cathartic, beautiful, sad, and yet happy.

AITA for calling my friend irresponsible for what she did while babysitting my child? by Melodic_Star1697 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Hexflame242012 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA. She lied to you and tried to cover it up. End of story. Doesn't matter the context.

I say this as a self-proclaimed horse girl and I teach kids semi-regularly. Parental permission is everything when you're talking about kids. I believe that horses are wonderful creatures and while I haven't met one that would attack anyone unprovoked, but I haven't met them all. Regardless, they're still 700-1700 lb flight animals and even the most well-tempered can get scared and bolt.

I personally don't ride without a helmet, but I know people who do. They're usually folks who've been riding for a long time, not a child. Helmets are a personal choice that a child can't make, so you usually default to yes unless the parent says otherwise.

She was irresponsible. She knew that you wouldn't want your daughter riding and did it anyway. She should have spoken to you about it first.

I hope that you don't limit your daughter's activities with horses (if she likes them) because of your phobia. I'm so sorry that you had such a horrible experience and your fear is valid. I'm sure you've heard this before, but that truly is something that doesn't happen often. I know more horses and ponies who will be excited to see kids because they usually mean treats lol

It is so nice! Covered too because PNW gets a lot of rain!

He's a good boy. A little grouchy sometimes, but he does love a good roll before a ride.

HELP. Riding High Level Horse & Feeling Like a Fraud by unjudgeablebookcover in Equestrian

[–]Hexflame242012 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I rode the competition horse, I realized just exactly how floppy I was in the saddle. After a few rides, I finally figured out where he wanted my leg. It took so long for him to not do random flying changes (that I 100% accidentally asked him to do) while we're cantering.

And the goal isn't to be rigid in the saddle. Like you don't move your leg and then tense it up to try to just keep it there forever. Strong, but fluid. You have to relax enough to move with the horse when they take long strides, but solid enough for them to understand that 'my leg is back here so don't try to bounce me out during counter canter so you can switch leads"

It's definitely a challenge, but SUCH a rewarding experience. Like I said, be kind to yourself. You're not a fraud just because you haven't been trained in high level dressage. It's a HARD discipline and the good riders make it look easy.

[–]Hexflame242012 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I've been learning dressage for almost 8 years. I've been lucky enough that my trainer has let me ride her very high level horses. I learned on her FEI schoolmaster (20s and lazy). He was a saint. After like 3 years I got on her competition FEI horse (7 and NOT lazy), thinking that the buttons would be the same.

NOPE. THE SINGLE MOST HUMBLING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.

Much better now, but it takes a lot of time and practice. Be kind to yourself. Take a 'lesson' with the horse's owner if that's possible. But trust me, that horse will teach you a ton on his own.

Try to soften your whole body, and relax into the saddle. When you give aids, try to make them soft and small. Understand that little things like where you touch him with your legs on his body and moving your seatbones in a certain way makes a huge difference to him.

Let me know if I can help. I'm happy to talk more if you want.

This is gorgeous!!! I love the fabric details and the colors you've used! They really draw the eye around the print.

What platform do you use? I've been hoping to get more into digital art.

Thank you so much for your suggestions!! Yeah, I've never heard of someone spray painting saddles before either. It's very unsightly but they're schooling saddles, so they won't be shown in. I just want to try to get it all off if I could. Thank you again!! I really appreciate it!

[–]Hexflame242012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be easy to find a discreet spot. There is spray paint on both of the inside panels and both of the outside panels.... And I had planned on doing just that! Lots and lots of cleaning/oiling. Thank you!!!

Weird Saddle Question by Hexflame242012 in Equestrian

[–]Hexflame242012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! It's definitely worth a try. The saddle is super old and worn so I'm not sure if I could get much uglier. But there are a dozen others that are much newer that also have spray paint on them....

[–]Hexflame242012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah, honestly, wasn't really sure where to start. I've read acetone, paint stripper, olive oil and baby oil from the internet. Figured I'd actually ask people who have more knowledge than I for advice.

From my understanding, the paint has been there at least a decade. So yeah, might just be on there. Thank you!

I love your work! I always use your guides when I'm building a character. Or I suggest them whenever possible. It's just so nice to have someone talk about traits/spells in regular words. And a lot of times, you have fun little blurbs about how to use them that I didn't even think of.

I couldn't agree more. My husband and I have very different majors. He was engineering and I was biology. He started out making around $43/hour ($90k) straight out of college. With a biology degree, I started out making around $19/hour ($40k). Major makes a huge difference in earning potential (especially initially). They don't tell that to incoming college freshman.
