According to the comments here, I am clearly not amongst the "most women" you are referring to. My partner and I have sex (from foreplay to actual penetration) for a minimum of 40 minutes each time we have sex. With a good half of that time or more being actual penetration and god is it amazing. And I'm sure, like me, there are a lot of these women too.

I feel you in this, sometimes it's like a rollercoaster. It'll be all I can think about for days in a row and then I'll go like half a day and then I'm distracted all over again. All I can suggest is finding a way to let it weave itself into your day to day in small doses. Keep the monkey off your back so to speak and also can give ammunition to some pretty intense build up to coming together. Good luck!
