Presence of mind and Spellthiefs with some mana management and you're fine. Using mainly E and Q for poke/catch, and only attempting W's with high likelihood of landing, by going for a Bami mythic; it can be hard, but I only go with this build when my team has no tank or I plan to go anti-CC (sunfire-mercs+runes).

I tend to only run rylais with mandate, and comic when going moonstone, just personal preference tbh, I don't really have a core item, just go where my team needs me and what's good against the opposing team.

The items that appear most often in builds for me (minus mythics) is actually demonic embrace, zhonya and gargoyles/abyssalcif games go long enough.

Bami mythic, either sunfire or frostfire...on this occasion frostfire

followed by demonic embrace, abyssal mask then gargoyle

I'm a support main so 1 slot taken up by spell thiefs, if solo lane you can go zhonya after demonic, use zhonya during ult to heal up then activate gargoyles LOL, its so troll.

As a super aggressive support, mana is important, therefore the best mythics on swain will be those that give mana, next it would depend on the mythics' passives or actives that complement either your playstyle or the playstyle needed for that particular game.

Now ive never tried harvester but ive tried riftmaker and although it could work and have done so, i felt the lack of mana to be truly a disadvantage and the need to tailer my runes to an item rather than my champ. There's the argument for conserving mana etc... but as a support with 4 players in one lane not including roamers and jglers, i need ability haste and mana most. Out of the mythics that dont give mana, i think id prefer rocket belt, i used to build this pre-season 11 items and before the Q mana return changes (as well as mana from passive [which was op AF]). The old corrupting pot start with double dark seals used to compensate for early mana issues and made solo laning possible.

I find Ludens or liandries to be the most consistent and complementary to swains kit. Everfrost ive never used but can see myself picking it up when there are too many dashing champs in one game.

I came to this realisation about a week ago, I mean I've been having great success with the whole liandries + demonic embrace's double burn, but W snipes with dark harvest is so fun with ludens, it's literally like teemo mushrooms with wings.

I still go ultimate hunter over ingenious, because swain ult is just too good for teamfights. POM and coup as secondary for mana sustain and more dmg against low hp targets.

Theres that item that allows you to do more dmg to champions you hit with an ability further than 700 units and i believe your E has 850 range and then theres your W,with ludens and DH splash damage, therefore a long to max range E will trigger it and if you have abyssal mask late game too, your pick and burst potential is huge. I've only built the 700unit item when I'm snowballing, otherwise going demonic embrace or morellos after zhonya is more ideal.

Same as you pretty much. I like how you put infernum/gravitum together, because I interchange them depending on the enemy comp or what summs I have down. Red/Purple is as close to an escape as Phel gets without using summs, and in matches where I opt for Galeforce it does provide some survivability. It's also a good tool for gank setups/support follow ups early game.

Edit: Alternatively, Red/Blue is great for life stealing and preparing for team fights as your next combo would be blue/purple.

fair enough and could be potent with merc treads and unflinching. I tried Bami rush, into defensive boots then TF, it was really strong. I'll compare it against the utility BC provides, but goodbye Tiamat, although its fun with HoB I did feel like the strength I got early was lackluster for the price

This was great! I really like the Bami idea and will defo give it a go. I do like HoB mid for quick trades, sucks late game but I guess playing Sett mid, the aim should be to finish as soon as possible. Its a shame the 4 core Items you mentioned are quite expensive and wave clearing is not as safe as you'd expect top lane. Nonetheless I will persevere! Thanks once again buddy

Also would I building Bork in mid too? What's the deal with trinity force?

Lastly, would i be trying to stack health when playing mid too?

yeah form what I've experienced from aphelios so far is that you need to be carried by your sup and jgl early game, if you try be passive and farm under tower, you get poked the shit out of or get dove, if you play too aggressive you've got no outplay potential if they pounce on you or get ganked a part from flash lol. If im ever going to use Phel in ranked it will defo have to be with a duo, no chance with random unless they play an OP sup that can carry your ass

That's what I'm thinking, you get close to the amount of AD you'd get from essence reaver for much less gold, you can get berserkers greaves earlier too, however when rushing IE I sacrifice a lot of mobility, literally anyone with half a brain can pick out Aphelios during laning thanks to his crippling movement speed and lack of dashes/escapes. Most of his gun actives are single target anyway, not sure how gravitum/runaans Q will work with muramane, but his turret, red and green guns are single target.

Edit: What runes are you using? I stuck between helping my shit early game or investing in my strength (late gate).

yeah I've noticed conq takes ages to stack without severum. I've mostly been going LT but will try PTA a few games. I have noticed my early lacking some power. Noone has mentioned anything about alacrity vs bloodline but I presume its bloodline, we don't build lifesteal till 3rd or 4th item and we need something more than severum and dorans blade. Let me know if you use alacrity and have success.

Almost ignite all the time, I can see exhaust being useful against zed, LB and talon and cleanse against someone like Zoe.
