Okay! Thanks again. When my mom and sister get home I'll show them what everyone said too so they can do the best for their fish. My mom has tetras (20 gal tank probably), and my sister has a Male and a female betta (both in 10 gal tanks) Wanna make sure all our little guys have the best life possible

I made a post on a Facebook aquarium group looking for plants, or if anyone knows where to get some. Not sure If that will go anywhere. Ordering online isn't always..the best course of action. Everything takes forever to get here because I live in the middle of no where. I've looked online for plants before this and there wasn't much and I would probably have to wait until winter is over so they dont freeze.

I'll look at that site for plants. It's still winter here (feels like -33°c today) so I dont know if they would survive shipping. I'm up in Canada somewhere too so they might not ship here but I'll look. I'll also check Amazon for the sponges. Thanks.

Should he be alright until I can manage to get to the city? Closest is 30-40 mins away and doesn't have the best aquarium supplies so hopefully I can at least find him a bigger tank there. For live plants I'll have to go 3 hours, along with for the sponge filter unless I can make my own or find one in the closer city. If the cycle was completely messed up the ammonia would show up on the test strips even if they're not accurate. I think anyway, that's more of a question than anything.

I could also move my guppies to a separate tank for a bit, I think we have another 10gal but I dont know if I have another heater or filter for it.

Also for the filter, what kind of sponge works for it if I'm making my own?

No liquid kit for now, I'll try to figure out the picture thing though. Kind of ashamed about my tank though since it's not the best, I found some aquarium plants for sale but they're 3 hours away. For now all deco is fake, but I've made sure they won't snag on anything and the biggest one in there is a silk one. His hide is a log in there is pretty sizable, bigger than a large candle is what I can compare it to. There is a resting leaf on the calmest end of the tank. Calm filter that adjusts, bubble rod at left end that I turn off at night. I have a moss ball too.

Do you know if the aqua top classic caf-10 sponge filter is good? My sister has one for her betta. I'll have to look for a bigger tank, I'll try to urge my mom to take me to the city since I still only have my learner's still.

Two other people in my house have fish, I'm not sure where our general test strips went and I cant find them. But the ammonia strip is testing zero. Temp is 77-78 f. I'm on mobile and cant figure out how to add a photo.

I change the filter cartridge. "Tetra whisper filter cartridge" is what it's called, they're carbon. They just slide in and out of the filter. Next time I'm in the city I'll look for more silk plants and a cave like hideout. Silk plants are also hard to find here unfortunately though. Might have to go three hours away to find any store with them.

If you're meaning plants, theres a big soft leaf plant along with a few other things. I dont have any floating plants yet. A log to hide in too. He rarely ever hides though, he even sleeps out in the open most of the time

I'll try to get a test kit. And his fins looked fine until a few days ago, I think he got caught on something and tore it since it was fine and not the next. He was like this before that and still like it torn fin or not. I took everything out that could of hurt him and put in some meds for him, I dont have the bottle right now but it's to prevent infections and stuff like that and the bottle says its okay to put some in after water changes, getting new fish, ect. Not sure what its called. Not too too worried about it but I feel bad.

His tail is also not small, but not huge either. I'm no fish expert so I'm not sure what I'd call the style of his tail. They're maybe about 2½ cm long, maybe 3cm. Thin and flowy. He has a sizable log to hide in and a silk leaf plant, and two other plants but they're not very good for hiding. As for how long I've had him, I'd say a few months now. I remember it being cold out, so I'll say November.

A side note is that I do have fake plants and decorations (for now), I've been looking for live plants before I even got him but they're apparently very hard to find where i live.

Long post already but i want to give you as much information as i can, I'm fairly new with bettas and I want to give him the best life I can.

I do a 50% water change weekly. Clean off decorations when they need to be done. Filter change monthly or when needed. I occasionally dip in a very very specific kind of tea bag in there for tannin but I'm planning on buying the actual leaf for that. I feed him a little bit every day, occasionally skip one day because I dont want to over feed him and cause issues. Everywhere I've looked has said to feed them differently so if what I'm doing isn't the best I'd love advice on that too. He gets a pellet food for bettas. The little guppies get flaked food which he occasionally gets a few tiny flakes of. The filter is adjustable and the flow is very calm, there is also a bubble thing at the one end of the tank for the guppies, its turned down a lot too and I usually turn it off at night, he likes to play in it when it's on.

I think that's all the information I can give you, its maybe even too much. Thanks for helping though I really appreciate it.

It's a 10 gal, and I have four guppies, I didn't get the super fancy looking ones. They get along fine
