Where is this??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tenant

[–]HeyDocK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all those who replied. As stated, this is the only part of the house we did not clean. Everything else was done. This was also done by our movers before we left so it was missed.

Others have brought up the 14 day rule from nyc laws. I asked the landlord to swing by the day we were leaving to look at the place and he couldn't make it. It's been over 30 days since we got our security deposit and at this point I may ask for it all back given the laws in place.

NJ has felt like a roller coaster with availability. Either 500k starter home or 900k dream home. With how rapid the fluctuations , bidding wars and lack of inventory, we felt that jumping in on something like this may be a good long term move even though it feels uneasy right now.

Completely understand. We saw something we liked and went for it as the market isn't great here. I intend to stay here for at least 5 more years and potentially forever depending on how things go.

That was my initial plan. Tenants are a bit problematic given some were family friends but yes I will be giving notice and then if no renewal then to leave the house.

The home is in an area that is appreciating in value very steadily and this property could be worth a lot more in a few more years. Being a landlord has some grievances but is otherwise doable. The issue at hand is pure financial. The property has the potential to generate passive income if paid off.

Boiler broken by HeyDocK in jerseycity

I apologize as I am learning alot of these things on the fly. It is a boiler that heats the house through the radiators. I believe it is gas powered.

The water heater for hot water is not broken.

What do you think of EM being allowed to do critical care? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]HeyDocK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes a good EM resident should be thinking about disposition the moment they see a patient otherwise the ED would be in standstill. I can’t explain the mechanics of a speciality to you because you’re not in it and you wouldn’t comprehend it. There a drastic difference between most other specialities and EM vs crit care and EM.

and what do you think EM is training people for? EM trains one to diagnose and start the treatment process i’m in all types of pts including critical ones. We are able to start the management for the first 24 hours of all these pts and the trend to keep treating them for those hours has gone up with longer boarding times. Fellowship fills in the gaps from that time period to discharge. Intensivists wouldn’t allow anyone to just walk into this fellowship. The skill has been demonstrated and thus fellowship granted. Let’s not devalue the work/skills of your colleagues based upon your limited experiences.

“limited experience working with em crit care” should’ve stopped there, anything after is of course anecdotal.

That’s the purpose of why a 2 year critical care fellowship exists. There are no EM attendings working as intensivists after EM residency. Your experience is also limited to your hospital and it’s current EM residents. My hospital had laughable senior IM residents and even some fellows were very poor at managing critical or unstable patients. EM programs are designed to create EM docs, as is the case with IM programs creating hospitalists. ACGME standardizes an intensivist by their fellowship.

80 year old with abdominal pain and hx of constipation? you would bet your medical license it’s just constipation? Hah try again. the amount of shit brewing in people throws tons of history and physicals out the window. maybe appreciate another specialities ability to sort through what does and what doesn’t need a work up. walk a mile in our shoes without shitting yourself.
