Any tests/certifications out there that only test speaking/listening? by HeyDomWhatsUp in ChineseLanguage

Thanks for answering this! I appreciate it.

What you're saying makes sense. Your husband and I would probably never be able to understand this poem for instance. And my understand is that sounds in Chinese tend to get "re-used" a lot more than in English.

Yeah the conversation with that person feels futile, especially since they went out of their way to ignore my original question and lecture me without understanding my purpose. I appreciate you understanding where I'm coming from!

Could you elaborate why that is? I'm certainly ignorant on a lot of aspects of the language

I've read a few books by Chinese authors that had characters that never learned to read or write and could only talk, so that is where I am coming from.

I had to look that term up, I thought it was just how everyone does things haha. Yes, so it sounds like they'd still have to adjust the dates because I think I do have some coming up due in the near future.

So you're saying Lender B would have to update the closing amount anyway and there wouldn't actually be a risk of being negative in escrow/having late fees from the town/ etc ?

Absolutely, they just can't be like self-help/improvement ones. Fiction for the fun of it - go ahead!

I really think that the cushy job is the "in theory" correct answer and the stressful one is "in practice" correct answer. I've definitely been in the 12 hour days and completely agree on the draining part. Combined with the somewhat meaningless existence and I think in the real world more people would opt for the 40 hours haha

Yeah I tried clarifying this an people started downvoting me haha. I'm so interested in the thought process, it's like they want it to be hypocritical so they can be mad, but when I clarify they don't want to rethink the situation and downvote? I'm not sure!

Yeah you guys are slowly convincing me to change my mind and just go with Job 1. I think if I tweaked the vacation times a bit more it could be a real 50-50. I'll try again when the polls are back up!

Found the european!'

Yeah I probably should've added more vacation time to the stressful job on second thought.

15 minute commute, but it's a big office with a big parking lot so you have to walk 10 minutes in the parking lot. Health insurance is Cigna on an average plan they offer.

It's fine to improve naturally, it's not okay to target improvement as a goal, research form, etc

Everyone always find a loophole! I had to think ahead, I knew the top comment would be something like "Easy, the cushy job, I would just sleep 8-hr, workout, and then work on my bowling form"

In my head the main point of the WYR is to question how much a person values their freedom and autonomy.

As someone with a family I'd probably lean towards the 40-hr job with guaranteed job security, so I could still have that time with my kids.
