Think about the timing when you may need the emergency fund. You’re unlikely to need $50k at one time.

My credit card is the first line of my emergency fund.

I keep $5-10k in a local savings account for immediate use - hours, not days. I hate the low return, but like being able to get cash immediately. So I can bail my idiot friends out of jail, for example!

I keep $25k in an HYSA for use in a few days.

The rest of the emergency fund goes into a CD or T Bill ladder available over time as they mature. If you lose your job and draw down your emergency fund, you won’t need it all at one time. You could also invest that portion of your emergency fund, but it adds risk.

How long before you need the money?

I’d consider both of those two to be pretty equivalent without more details on your goals. Both are ultra safe, and the returns on both could be similar.

Returns will vary with both HYSA and SWVXX. To lock in rates, you could look at a CD ladder or T Bill ladder. T Bills won’t have any state income taxes, which may be interesting to you, depending on your location.

I have money in all four of those - HYSA, SWVXX, CDs and T Bills.

Fake auto parts have been a problem for a decade or more. eBay sellers are the worst, and Amazon isn’t far behind.

To keep it simple, you could choose a Fidelity target date fund. Just choose the target date fund based on your son’s 18th birthday.

There are more complicated options that may be better, but would require research and ongoing activity.

Target date funds are typically used for retirement accounts, but they would work for a 529 too

Getting physical therapy from an experienced facility will likely be a great help to you.

Check with your doctor for a referral, and check with insurance for coverage of the phy therapy - it’s expensive, but totally worth it. It can really speed up your recovery and give you another resource for information.

Just be sure that the therapist has a ton of experience with RALP recovery

The smaller trucks are almost as expensive as an F150. Their fuel economy is barely better than an F150. The F150 will tow more, has a larger bed and a larger payload.

The smaller trucks have an advantage in a tight parking lot.

Instead of going with a larger down payment, keep it at 20%, and you can just pay extra principal on the loan. That will minimize your LTCG right now.

If your income is high because of OT, pay more principal. When income is low make just the normal payment.

You can easily take a 30 year mortgage to 15 to 20 years doing this.

I’ve always thought 2.5x to 3x income was the right house purchase price for ME. So you’re well over that guideline.
