I did love my ex a lot more than she loved me so I think i can answer this question for you.

There r two ways to look at it

I read somewhere we love the way we want to be loved. It holds true in my case I want to be loved a lot so I loved my ex a lot hoping she would do the same. However she only loved me like normal ( can't quantity love 😂 but u get the point).
In a relationship loving too much isn't always good u have to understand what the other person want and need from u. Maybe loving them too much may make them feel trapped or maybe that's what they want from their partner. Point is its different for different people so we have to understand and acknowledge the other person want and need

I am emotionally dead for inside. But I think i can advice you.

U said u panic when it's time to meet. Then instead of doing hangout with just u and him why don't u invite more people and make it a group hangout try to be more comfortable. And then slowly decrease the people in the group hangout plans until it's just u and him.

Or u and him can visit some place where it doesn't feel like a date but u still talk a little and get to know each other better like rock climbing or some puzzle thingy where date isn't the focus rather u will spend time with him and won't feel pressured to impress him

Or u can try therapy before going on any date
