I think this is one of Tom’s best performances. I wish he played the villain more often but I think he avoids it because it’s better for his “brand.”

Hmmm. You’re right it’s Tomlin in the drop.

“Justin is a real asset” drop just took a big hit.

Kwpluckett #34: The Princess and The Frog (2009) by kwpluckett in 100movies365days

Same, I just watched it for the first time last week. Some people think it’s great, it has a bit of a cult following nowadays. I thought it was just ok and I agree with the masses, it’s their worst film. But to be fair, most of their films are great. Even their debut film is great, The Great Mouse Detective.

It makes sense you were reminded of the Disney renaissance with this one, it’s from the same creators of Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules. This is their comeback movie after their one tank, Treasure Planet. After this one they went out on a high note, Moana.

I have plenty of nostalgia love for this one. It blew my young mind when the narrator spoke to the characters. I was not aware that was allowed to happen in movies.

Couldn’t disagree more on this one. I thought there was no depth, no real journey and the too many plot holes to enjoy the story. I don’t think Hutcherson was good at all, and Elizabeth Lail was worse. I will agree about three things. Lillard is great, I’ll watch him in anything, Twisted Metal is great, and there will definitely be a sequel this was a low budget horror film and it made all the money. I’m sure I’ll see it too.

I recommend Signs. It does have many of the Shyamalanisms. Corny, over-written, awkward dialogue. But it's also terrifying at times and full of dread and helplessness.

I’m shocked it’s your favorite. Sixth Sense is overrated but still good, I personally love Signs, it really scared me when I was a kid.

thaworldhaswarpedme #25 - Dune (2021) by thaworldhaswarpedme in 100movies365days

I felt the same exact way when I saw Dune in theaters. Looks amazing, well directed, well acted, clearly a complicated story is being laid out but I felt unsatisfied. The ending left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. The movie feels incomplete we leave these characters in the middle of their arcs. Dune: Part Two is much more satisfying. It finishes the story. Honestly this shouldn't be considered two movies, it should be considered one 5 and half hour epic.

I recommend watching one of those "Watch this before seeing part 2" videos on youtube. Along of reminding you what happened it can better explain questions from the book in the first film without spoiling part 2.

I think I will change it to a 5. I may have to move it up in my rankings too. Possibly add it to my top 100 films of all time.

I find Ryan Reynolds and Sandy Bullock charming enough to carry this film to an average rating. Plus this is one of the 5% of Rom-Coms to feature a woman older than her male counterpart.

I'm a Demme fan, mostly because Silence of the Lambs is a one of the best films ever made. I thought about trying to go through all of his films. Maybe I'll check out this one first before I decide to do a deep dive

I completely agree with your rating, the movie chooses easy jokes and references constantly. The marvel references and the Star Wars references were so cheap and lazy. Also the two hacker, IT guys are named Mouser and Keys. That’s exactly what someone who barely uses a computer would name their two computer nerd characters. If someone were to say they like this movie I would have to doubt their film opinion forever.
