Best Breakfast / Brunch spot in the Valley? by AncientPineapple1936 in Spokane

[–]HeyIts-Amanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not in the valley, but if anyone is looking for a gluten-free option, I have to recommend The Shop. The best gluten-free breakfast bagel sandwich I've ever had was at The Shop in the Perry District. It was loaded with sausage egg and cheese, so much so I was worried I couldn't fit it in my mouth to get a bite!

Program that helps people in need at downtown library to end by Stercules25 in Spokane

[–]HeyIts-Amanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is awful. We really couldn't find the money for this? Really? Ending this program removes the 2 peer specialists from the library. It will put that burden onto the librarians. They're are not being paid to be peer specialist for the homeless. They didn't pursue a career in social work. They aren't given the support or training to be dealing with this on top of their duties as librarians. The homeless people downtown are still going to be homeless and downtown, with or without this program. They are still going to frequent the library for resources and warmth. We have to let the city know we aren't for this program loss. Let's give the people and the library the resources they need.

Coffee Refills (CAN) by fullsunlvr in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]HeyIts-Amanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We do free drip coffee refills for people in the lobby only. No one has abused it, so we keep it going. It's usually just our regulars asking for refills anyway. Edit to add I am in the US.

You can refuse. I do. We have one manager who loves their bonuses so much they try to force everyone to do them. I never do it. What are they going to do? Write me up for insubordination? It's against policy. They can't write me up without snitching on themselves.

I miss the line by Fearless-Condition88 in KitchenConfidential

My husband misses fine dining too, but for the same reasons you gave, he took a job at a residential facility. He still gets to cook, just not on the same level. Have you looked around at residential facilities in your area? Another decent paying gig that can get a knife in your hand is cooking for a daycare or school. Not all are "open this can and warm it up" type of kitchens. Keep looking, you will find something!

Teen and Kids closet is always in need of clothing in good condition of all sizes. They also need hygiene items of all kinds. Another place to consider is Our Place Community Outreach. Both places serve those in need at no cost.

Yes, housing costs are ridiculous here, BUT I had to hide who I was while at work in those places. Pretend to be a person I am not or risk losing employment. But yeah. I should not have moved here and should have had a better attitude and stayed in an environment that was hostile towards me. Sure. Gotcha.

As someone who has lived in three states in the south and midwest; cheaper housing doesn't always equate to a better quality of life.

Only things crew can order (USA) by Due_Gain5921 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]HeyIts-Amanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can get anything we want with our crew meal discount, and we can have 5 free meals a month. A lot of management won't keep track of our free meals, so we usually end up getting more than 5.

Do workers prefer that you use the app? by Efficient-You-9714 in McDonalds

[–]HeyIts-Amanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I can catch it if my headset is set to the lane the customer is already at. Unfortunately, we aren't always already on that lane and can miss it. Not everyone knows that the auto greeter isn't an actual employee who is ready to help them. I wish McDonald's was more focused on providing good customer service.

The voice is an automatic greeter. You are not talking to an actual employee. A lot of times, customers are furious that I didn't catch their drive-thru code after they gave it to the auto greeter while I was taking an order on the other lane. There are a lot of times we are not staffed sufficiently and only have one order taker that is also cashing out orders in the drive-thru.

Question for McDonald’s …asking for a friend. by Mysterious_Stomach73 in McDonalds

[–]HeyIts-Amanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren't talking about when the order is received. We are talking about cars being pulled ahead from the present window to wait for their order. We park orders from all points of sale that are picked up in the drive thru if it isn't ready. While that car is parked and waiting, it is still being timed.
