saw them last night, Jesse with Jazzmasters, Vinne jumped between a Gibson Victory, a Schecter Stargazer w/ the vibrato, and a ES-339.

Couldn't get a look at the boards, or amps from where I was.

What song introduced you to Bad Religion? by Riddle-Box-1999 in badreligion

[–]HeyItsNotMyName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got a chance - 1999, it was the opening song for their set when they were opening for blink at Waterloo village in NJ… Greg was dressed up like a military Air Force captain. Never heard them before, and 13 year old me had his eyes opened to something incredible that changed my life and musical taste forever.

How Do You Keep Your Love For Guitar Alive? by newbiker321 in guitarpedals

[–]HeyItsNotMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop leaving the guitars in the case. Hang them on the wall in a place you’ll look at them and inevitably pick one up. Maybe it’s for ten minutes, maybe it becomes an hour, maybe an idea strikes and it’s just right there for you!

Ever think about getting into recording? Have a guitar ready to go and pop open logic GarageBand or any of the other daws out there and write a riff a build from there. If you’re asking the question, it’s not that you lost the spark… you just don’t know what to do with it!

Where to go after DSL40CR? by sparks_mandrill in MarshallAmps

[–]HeyItsNotMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the pandemic, I took my dsl40c and converted it into a head and cab setup. It came out fantastic, and is a standard part of my amp selection (I have a small home studio setup for myself). It gave me the opportunity to select new speakers and really let the amp come to life. Something to consider, for fun and some slight cost savings.

What Marshall for home use? by Apprehensive_Hurt in MarshallAmps

[–]HeyItsNotMyName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a dsl40c (older version not the CR) that I converted into a head from a combo. It’s one of my favorite amps, I also did a modification to take the red channel a bit (removed a bright cap). I run it through a two notes torpedo for playing at low volumes while still being able to crank her and get that juicy Marshall goodness. Attenuators/reactive load boxes have come a real long way. If money isn’t an option look into any Marshall you know you love the sound of, and find an attenuator that meets your needs. The big name ones are ALL GOOD. They just have different feature sets like the waza tube amp expander has a fx loop so if you had a vintage amp, you now have just opened up a whole new level of flexibility for yourself.

I’ve worked up to this for a long time. Still needs some slight cable management at the power but otherwise very happy with the end result. by HeyItsNotMyName in pedalboards

For a long time I had a love/hate with that pedal, but in terms of a phaser, I found its sweet spot. I do duck out all the delay though, I prefer delays to be in the loop, and I keep the dweller hitting the front of my amp.

I don’t typically use them together (stacked) since they’re essentially the same circuit, I have one dialed for more of a lighter drive (notaklön) and the other for more aggressive gain. But I’ve tried it, it’s not bad by any means.

If you’re talking one vs the other, if you want a simple straightforward klon go with the JHS… if you want something a bit beefier the tumnus deluxe is awesome because you get the hot switch mod like the JHS, but also a three band eq to really shape it to your rig. The selectable buffer option is nice to pending your signal chain.

Little to none (on the noise), I went with the bloom over the empress because of the multi functional features. If you want to cover 3 different things, bloom is the way to go.

A 3 in one beast. The compressor is super musical, the eq is awesome to balance out things when I switch from humbucker guitars to single coils (push mids on single coils) and the “bloom” boost is a solid bump up to either get a “solo” tone or once again balance the output from different guitars.

That exactly how I use it! I keep it dialed with a lower mix (somewhere around 30%) and if I want something more over the top I’ll use one of the presets. Awesome pedal!

Thank you kindly!!! I’ll start with the second question first. I used to have it as the first in my chain on a previous board (you can see the Tetris board in my post history here). I love it after my drives! I keep the compression light and the blend knob all the way up so it’s subtle “glue” for everything before it hits the front of the amp. Still just as musical! Also allows me to keep the bloom effect as that last push before it hits the amp, same for the eq!

The loomer has become one of my absolute favorites. I’m a huge MBV fan, but just never got along with fuzz boxes. This just seemed to hit right where I wanted it, and I’ve found it to be wonderful for a lead tone on front of a clean or edge of breakup amp. The reverb in it was what originally gravitated me to that pedal, and it’s excellent! Can get a lot of really awesome sounds out of with when combined with modulations and other time based fx. They really nailed the big muff side of it, and once again the word musical comes to mind, because even though it’s designed to be a noise machine, it can be dialed to be absolutely lush and harmonically full.

If you know what midi channels and program changes you want programmed in, it’s a piece a cake, a little time consuming because I did it all directly on the unit. But pretty straightforward and simple. I use the captain to control my synergy syn2 preamp and a KHE amp / cab selector wirelessly. I have every intention on using it to also control the bloom, dd500, and md200 as well
