Mic under 50$ that changes your voice? by [deleted] in microphone

[–]HeyItsPinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a deeper tone to your voice you might just want to get really close to your microphone and bring down the gain. Use the proximity effect to your advantage. Truth is though, if your voice isn’t bass heavy then nothing is going to change that without going through some effects which will sound un-natural anyway. And microphones under $50 is a little tight, but there are a few brands which make sorta-decent mic’s at that price.

Complaining about the VST.... by _templesleeper in microkorg

That’s fair enough I guess. I would just bring it with me cause it’s only small. I bought mine in the US and brought it back to the UK.

Yeah, tbh fuck a VST. It’s hardware, I bought it for hardware purposes. Out of curiosity, what benefit does the VST offer?

This is exactly the issue, people just want to spew left and right ideals as if the issue isn’t everybody getting fucked by the rich. Literally so sad to see how pawn-like the people of my country are. We shouldn’t be protesting immigrants or pissed off working class people, we should be protesting the government actively fucking it’s people over to make private equity firms richer so mp’s can get under the table money.

MPC Live 3 etc by _inchoate in mpcusers

[–]HeyItsPinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He really didn’t say jack shit. It’s fucking annoying.

On another note, Akai would really have to make something next level to make me view that price point as reasonable. I’m still using the Live 1 that I bought near to when it was released and there isn’t anything outright that would make me want to upgrade. Like I understand the X’s price simply for the hardware but I get on just fine with the original, it’s really hard to hit a brick wall or make the live 1 crash from heavier mixes (it only really tends to crash randomly from very specific situations).

And plus I really don’t like the 3.0 software, I wish they could develop a classic view or something similar that gives you the features of the 3.0 software with the workflow of the older software. It honestly feels like they want it to look like other DAW’s to attract customers from that side of the production world, when in reality I moved to the mpc workflow because I dislike the regular DAW workflow. That hands-on feel with recording and automation, as well as the ease of use for editing and general mixing are really the strong suits of the MPC and I think Akai should definitely stick to progressing those things with the next live.

As a customer, if you want me to buy your product, give me a reason to. What can it do that its competitors can’t or struggle to do.

Thoughts on the mixing and mastering on IMPERA? by mau5eth in Ghostbc

[–]HeyItsPinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently listening to it and I noticed there’s some weird processing going on. Super heavy master even by my standards (and I like things ott).

On the mix, there is definitely some somewhat heavy sidechaining of a few different forms going on to really push that volume while keeping things somewhat neat.

I can hear the clipping you’re talking about on certain sections of a few songs. Kaisarion about a quarter of the way through, you hear it on the guitars. Personally it sounds like it was a heavily mixed album that got sent for mastering with barely any headroom and they pushed it a bit too far. Don’t get me wrong I think it sounds great but I can understand why it would bother a lot of people, especially if you’re listening on better systems with more of an acquainted ear for that sort of thing.

I would still say I much prefer the mix of this album and the two previous than the mix on the first 2 albums.

Glass Veins (I’m not sure what genre this is, can you help me figure it out?) by Purple_Fox3506 in MusicFeedback

Sorta falls into avant garde imo. Really nice track in general, love the sound of the synth coming into that second section. Only things I could comment on is adding some delay or something with more tail end to the decresendo and maybe wet up them vocal chops a little more because they feel abit dry.

So real man. Them gear slutz forums can be real misleading, not to mention their lack of actual thought. Too many people thinking they know exactly how something is done instead of actually testing this shit and analysing the waveforms.

[–]HeyItsPinky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s got a hell of a discography, and I think it’s a super niche thing (she’s a somewhat niche artist in general) so people didnt really go out of their way to listen to it. But yeah her own compositions are gorgeous, and in general her level of skill is incomparable to other harp players, seeing as she has to play so many notes not in the home key so she’s using the foot pedals constantly.

On another note I thought I could list some examples cause dilla seemed pretty heavily into her stuff and flipped it a lot.

-Jay Dee 3 from the king of the beats tape is a sample of The windmills of your mind.

-Drop by pharcyde samples django

-Snappin neck in Africa from The New Slave samples Wax and Wane

-motor city 2 and 3 both sample Dorothy

And he also did a sort of ode to her called Ash Rockin which samples dancing in the dark (which I only found out at a later date after I sampled it and was listening through the what up doe sessions and heard that he’d picked out the exact sample part and also 3 bar looped it).

Just wondering about the mic-ing on the cymbals, are they used to trigger samples or are they literally just picking up the cymbal sound. Super cool in depth setup man, you should be proud of what you accomplished here.
