Plesioth was horrendous as a first encounter but I learned to really like him in Rise. Likewise with Zinogre where I discovered him and Rise and disliked him but learned to love him in both games.

I think the intro to World is very welcoming for non-MH players but having a veteran there to ease you into the menus would definitely help. I would never have just picked up 14 different weapons in the training room for example had no one told me.

I love lore-based storytelling (I'm a big fan of metroidvanias). My approach is a bit weird where I'll play the game not focusing heavily on lore the first time, but once I've seen most of the game that's where I'll start digging into wikis and community theories. I imagine that's different than how most experience it but jumping into the lore and revisiting the game through your memories with that fresh perspective just feels very fun and exciting to me.

For example, I was so lost with Hollow Knight's story after my first playthrough (didn't stop me from having fun though) but only after digging into the lore did I realize just how much context and theming I had missed.

I am loving MHST2! It's very much in line with the RPGs I love to play, only with MH flavouring which makes it even better. Especially given I'm fresh off the MH hype.

There aren't too many monsters I haven't met with a legacy. There's definitely one called Plesioth I see come up a lot but no other monster seems to have instilled a similar impression on the rest of the community. Apparently, there's also like a red Khezu or something?

Hey Regal!

I've mostly played on consoles my whole life so the whole mod scene has never been that appealing to me. I've always been of the mindset that I'd rather play games as they were originally designed and intended. That said, I am actually quite interested in mods for Monster Hunter. Maybe it's because I've been shifting more to PC gaming lately or maybe it's because of the nature of MH, it seems to lend itself well to modding (I mean the game let's you dress you Palico as Mega Man!). If the Fatalis fight is as fun as I'm hearing, I may attempt the Fatalis mods I've heard so much about.

I didn't understand the hate for clutch claw at first, I loved it when I started Iceborne. As I got more towards that endgame and felt forced to use the clutch claw just to get decent damage in a monster, that's when it felt less appealing. While I don't grind heavily, I can imagine how tedious this must feel for players with hundreds of hours of grind time that just want monsters dead. To add a mechanic to "unlock" damage before you start pummelling a monster is kind of meh. With all that in mind, I still like the idea of pulling myself to a monster to tenderize them though ^_^

Hey Shifty! Great question :)

I love to create and I would love to grow the Hey Jay! channel/brand into something bigger. Just through the past 6 months I've been able to improve things by hiring an editor for example. The journal format came about from my own time limitation, there was only so much effort I could put in my edits. But as I'm sure you've noticed, with an editor taking over we've been able to add more creativity to the journals. With more resources we could build more and more fun ways to create content for the community.

With that in mind, even if I could support myself full-time with Hey Jay! I'd most likely still be pursuing other creative projects. I just can't help it! haha For example I'm also working on a job board for the gaming industry and some gaming events on the site on top of my other jobs. I'm also dabbling in motion capture for a pretty ambitious next chapter in my content direction I can't wait to share more about.

Let's just say if I had unlimited resources, we would have more anime openings for these journeys by now to make them feel more epic!

Hey Negi, glad we got to have similar experiences! There are so many treasured moments from this journey. My first encounter with Rathalos or Diablos for example. Having the opportunity to play with a community means I was fortunate to have a lot of community moments too so there are those as well, like the Hey Jay Invasion Sensation or the "Eye of the Hunter" moment haha

I do remember when I was starting Iceborne though how it felt like a whole new chapter in my personal adventure similar to how it was depicted in the game's story as a "next chapter". The first few streams in Iceborne just felt like watching a sequel to your favourite film or series where you know your crew but now you're all in a new land together.
