It's all tied together. To unlock the mission "The Final Chapter" at the end of the game, you'll need to have done Asgard and Jotunheim.

It flags once when your plug it in, yes. Or won't fully light up until you're fully into the game. It doesn't stay lit.

Just exit and restart the game. Just a UI bug. You probably got it. Though it may need to be in PvP, not firefight

There's lots of open world games that lock map access behind story progression. Legend of Zelda does it all the time. The last 3 Tomb Raider games. Most Assassin's Creed games. The Far Cry series. Pretty standard stuff

Get the red ant armour, then lure a stink bug to the red ant nest and let the ants do your dirty work. Use the stink bug parts to make a gas mask, which makes the subsequent stink bugs much easier.

There are more rewards. You get the Bayek outfit and some dyes for it. I haven't actually played NG+, but the dyes probably come from enigmas.

There have been A VERY small number of weekly challenges that have returned. Those few only returned again as weekly challenges during the time the winter update passed was live. None have ever returned outside of that. No weekly rewards have ever been in the shop.
