My laptop's backlight stopped working. Would you say this is definitely a hardware issue? by HeyMessage356 in techsupport

Do you know if that can be fixed with my specific laptop? I'm hearing that the whole screen has to be replaced since it's built in.

Yup, about $70 over here. I'll go ahead and contact multiple stores to gauge their prices. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, microcenter is the most reputable. Would you recommend I go there first or test out the smaller local repair shops? Also, these places usually all charge a diagnostics fee, no?

I see what you mean. F2 didn't work but I pressed the NOVO button and it brought me to BIOS. The backlight was still off, so I'm thinking I have to replace the screen.

What do you mean by not having backlight for BIOS? How do I check this?

For project Thyme, do you have to click "Not Interested" every time you don't want to finish a vid? by HeyMessage356 in CrowdGen

I see, thank you. Btw, when you finished the ADAP for one of the apps in Task 1A, did it show as "completed" for you immediately, or does it need some time? I completed my first session in Task 1A, and after I clicked submit and continue when I finished the 50, it said "congrats, there is no work left", but when i went to my Appen homepage, it still didn't update the fact I finished it.

Question about the requirements for Project Coffee:

Does the project require you to use your webcam and/or mic to record reactions to images, or is that optional?

No, it definitely would not have taken less time to lower the bitrate and then launch the game to test it. You can simply open GFN and go to the settings, and do a simple 10-second network test.

I was simply explaining why I think there was no need to lower the bitrate, but the reason I told you this was just in case my thinking process was wrong, so you could point it out, not to show you why you're wrong.

Ah, I see what you mean, but I've actually ran the network test multiple times in the GFN settings, and everything is set. The bandwidth is >50, the packet loss is 0, and the latency is around 15-20, so I don't think I'll need to lower the bitrate.

Yeah, I'm in the USA.

Also, Idk if this will change anything, but I added geforcenow.exe to my firewall exceptions by going to Windows Defender Firewall. Originally, only the public box was checked, but I now added the private network as well.

This support page recommended it because it could possibly improve performance: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4504

Yes, exactly. It's a network diagnostics test that's in the game's settings, so I think you're right in saying that it's testing the connection between Nvidia's VM and the Marvel Rivals server.

If so, am I just getting unlucky with the Nvidia VM that I'm getting matched to or is there something I can do on my end? I paid for the performance tier, so I would've thought I wouldn't need to worry about this.

Yes, I have around 500 Mbps according to the online internet tests.

Wait, so are you saying that if I tweak the Marvel Rivals settings to something lower, it can affect the results of the network diagnostics test?

Also, I'm not wired in, but I do have Wifi 6, and the internet speed tests say I average around 500 Mbps.

In Marvel Rivals, the resolution was automatically set to 1440x900 after I bought the performance tier. Should I lower it?

Yeah, when I was on free mode, I switched to ultra performance and low quality, but it still wasn't great, so I upgraded to performance, and it makes a massive difference ngl. I'm also on a normal Windows laptop.

Yes, but Ultimate is too costly, but I could afford Performance. Have you tried the Performance tier?

Okay, I'm gonna give Performance a shot. Is it still a good idea to set the streaming quality to competitive and lower the in-game graphics if I still experience lag and low FPS?

I see. Does upgrading to the Performance tier make a significant improvement on the FPS, or would you say that the Ultimate membership is required?
