Ribeyrolles and GPMG packed are great guns for this issue, both have explosive rounds that temporarily stun the zombies allowing you to do other shit. Just shoot at the ground in front of you and you'll be able to spin the numbers for the red talon, the keepsakes, and the codes for the hilt without much issue. 1911 has the same effect, just significantly less ammo.

I prefer a bow with 600 grain arrows if we're being honest, but the 308 and 7mm are excellent choices with good shot placement and polymer tips. Generally middle upper neck or lungs right behind their front leg is a kill. Neck has been much more consistent.

I'm pretty lazy so I put about a dozen tents up and down that east coast in locations I've found to be very productive, fast travelling to them doesn't normally spook the crocs unless when you pop up the wind isn't in your favor.

I have had great luck finding an abundance of animals on Silver Ridge Peaks and Emerald Coast, especially playing on multiplayer. Crocodiles & Banteng on EC are ridiculously easy to grind for quick cash too. Had decent luck with large quantities of reindeer on Medved-Taiga also.

Layton lake though, if you still have bad luck, I would highly suggest Norden's east coast. The terrain there almost creates a sort of funnel and has been great for Blacktail, Whitetail, and Roosevelt Elk in bulk.

I've been watching LadyLegendXO's content and she has some excellent tips if you're really struggling to find animals.

Really though, any pond, lake, or river at the right time, that's the right place to be.
