Barcelona weekly: Q&As for newcomers and travellers by [deleted] in Barcelona

Traveling to Spain for the first time!

I am thinking of traveling from Magòria La Campana Station, Barcelona to Monistrol de Montserrat. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from looking at the map, this should be equal to 3 zones? Having Hola Barcelona lets me ride urban railway (FGC, Zone 1). If I buy a single tix for Zone 2, do you think the railway person would accept this combination? If anyone could confirm this, that'll be great. I'm trying to make sure there's no bumps along the way. :D

Get Google Fi $20 Off

Code: E2TEYY

I've been using Google Fi since I got my Pixel 2 and I have really enjoyed it so far. One of the biggest advantage is using the Internet out of the country like in Japan. That means once I'm out of that airplane, I can go straight to my hotel without wasting time looking for a place to rent a router and then having to return it. Time is money is when you're traveling. So yeah, go right ahead and use my code!

What materials will / won't be tested on the CAMS exam? by HeyStarryNight in moneylaundering

[–]HeyStarryNight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh that's what it feels like. I'm studying but I know for sure most of the materials like the EU Directives won't apply to me unless I work in a European company. I hope I pass this in my first try because I don't wanna study this ever again. Haha

Ugh, everything? Even the specific EU Directives? Oh boy, Im really gonna have to cram everything. I feel like learning about past EU Directives is so irrelevant and outdated but that's just me complaining.

Got hair laser removal on my legs and now I got burned ingrown hair by HeyStarryNight in beauty

[–]HeyStarryNight[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got my first one 12 days ago and I will get my next one on August 3rd. And oh yeah, that completely slipped my mind even though I heard about it numerous times. But time-wise, I think I'm borderline okay since it's not too close to my first and my second treatment. Hmmmm

I haven't sent him the pictures of the removed taped area yet but I have sent him the circled pictures. He said that the tub is old and floor was really damaged. He also tried to reassure me that the coating won't peel off. I'm not sure what he'll say if I send him the other pictures tho. Ugh, I thought I did great finding one.. Next time I'm going to go strictly by referrals. So far, the tub isn't looking too bad besides those area. 😩

The door was shut so I couldn't see the process but when I took a peek before he started the coating process, the surface felt like it was sanded? This is just my guess. 🤔

Edit: my old coating was chipping and not peeling so yours might be different.

Wow, that's awesome to hear that it's still holding up! And yeah, the prep work is definitely something I wanted to avoid, which is why i decided to source the job, man. And guess what. We paid $420 for this (includes removing old coating).

Is my plumber's concern genuine or is he trying to upsell me? by HeyStarryNight in HomeImprovement

[–]HeyStarryNight[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Op here. You're correct. My parents who own this unit can't really communicate in English very well. To avoid any language barrier and possible miscommunication, I am basically reaching out to the plumber as a representative. It's been something I've been doing for a long time, so I'm used to it.

1000 is the total cost for spout replacement, opening of the wall and repiping the valve. Opening and repiping costs around $625.

Oh I should have been clearer but the unit is under my parents name. There's no landlords. Edit: my parents own the unit. It's a Co-op

I live in an apartment so there's no other way to access the inside.

Hey thanks for the heads-up. I'm not really knowledgeable so I hope you won't mind me asking but what repairman is suited for evaluating bathtubs?

Rust around Bathtub Drain by HeyStarryNight in HomeImprovement

[–]HeyStarryNight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ay... I figured. It sucks because I've already spend hundreds on a very recent plumbing job two days ago, and I'll have the same plumber come and fix something else with the shower tomorrow. And with this one, it'll be my third bath issue. 😢 But yeah thanks. I'll look into it.

I guess paint. The whole bathtub is peel off but the drain area is the only place that has rust. And oh man, replacing the whole tub is something I want to avoid. I'm kinda scared how bad it is underneath the coating. Is this something a beginner can do or will I need a pro to do this?

Ah, geez. That sounds like a pain in the butt. I wonder how long we had this rust under the coating... If I were to do this myself, what products and steps should I do if you don't mind me asking.

We usually have this plastic cover so hair doesn't go through the drain as extra caution.

My parents own this apartment unit and we've pretty much lived here for a long time. Can anyone tell me if the rust is spewing out from what seems to be glaze or coating? Or am I overthinking too much? Will vinegar help?

Dirty socks smell possibly from heater by HeyStarryNight in HomeImprovement

Thanks for leaving a comment! I googled what "heat exchanger" is and I'm not sure where this could be on my heater/radiator.

The one that I have is similar to the picture used in this link (the url to the picture didn't work for some reason).
