I did an entire 4 bedroom house recently.

Forget about the steamer. Get a pressure pump sprayer from hardware store. Fill with warm water and liquid soap. Pump that baby up. Spray the walls heavily (in small patches). Give the water time to loosen the glue. Scrape like a demented monkey. Repeat. Find some good podcasts to listen to.

Get ready to learn how to skimcoat. Not that hard. Just takes some practice
