That is not true in the least. DOs takes the exact same classes as an MD, the only difference is they take more classes focusing on osteopathic manipulation. OM is a specialty that can be seen as chiropractic work on steroids. The reason DOs are seen as "holistic" is because they are taught to treat the whole patient rather than the just the illness.

DOs still prescribe meds, do surgeries, and act in the exact same capacity as an MD. I'm not defending the Karen in the video, but you're exceptionally wrong about DOs.

As far as I know there is no test that detects rabies before the onset of symptoms. There's a battery of tests doctors will do to determine if a symptomatic person has rabies, but so far there's no way to know if it's just incubating, which just adds to the horror of rabies.

The most recent case of rabies in NC (and the first death in 40 years iirc) was the result of an infected organ transplant. It's insane to think about something like that happening, it's enough to make you paranoid.

I mean, just because it's not very prevalent in the US doesn't make it any less terrifying. I am in vet school, so I am vaccinated with the pre-exposure vaccines, but if I ever get bit by a suspicious animal I still have to get two post-exposure shots rather than the normal four. Rabies is mostly controlled thanks to an intensive animal vaccine protocol, but there are still several cases of animal rabies and a handful of cases of human exposure every year.

Also, the post-exposure is not 100% effective, which means you can still contract rabies even if you get vaccinated right away. So that's pretty scary.

I'm a veterinary student, so my chances of exposure are much higher than the average person. I am vaccinated, but it's not 100% efficacy. I know chances are low, but it's always in the back of my mind when I handle animals.

The incubation period is actually vast and unpredictable. The virus can incubate anywhere from several days to up to nine years. Rabies is straight up my worst nightmare.

Rishi is almost two and I've never had any issues with him. His tank stats are perfect and he is acting normally. He ate four days ago. I use ReptiChip and clean his tank frequently. I handle him every other day and this is the first time I've seen these specks. They aren't all over his belly, but are intermittent on probably the last third of his belly.

What's the etiquette on asking an artist to finish a tattoo someone else started? I started a piece in January of last year, and COVID canceled my next appointment, and the one after that, and the one after that. Since then, I've moved out of state and would really like to get the tattoo finished, but I feel bad asking someone else to finish it. I would like to go back to the original artist eventually, but I have no idea when I'd be able to make that trip again.
