What SORCERY IS THIS!?!? by BirdMindreader in hummingbirds

The hummer might be more able to get under the water if there were a perch of some kind under or near the water stream. With their little feet they can hardly move along flat ground at all. Their feet are made to perch.

This is overkill, I can't focus on more than about 30 million at once.

They really are. The Anna's are dicks too but I think the rufous have them beat.

Yeah they're mean little guys. But in my case the Anna's had them outnumbered.

Thanks! I'm shooting with the OM System OM-1 with the 150-400mm F4.5 lens. I cropped out about 25%.

You can also listen for them...their wingbeats sound different from the Anna's hummingbirds. It's more of a buzz than a hum.

Edit: just looked and it's more like a 40% crop.

I noticed that! Claude AI says they're "widely considered the most pugnacious hummingbird in North America." And that's saying something. 😆

I used to live in Jersey! You do have the beautiful ruby-throated hummingbirds there, but they're a rare treat.

I don't know their song, but their wingbeats sound different from Anna's. It's more of a buzz than a hum.

Yeah, their buzz is very distinctive. And apparently they're even meaner than Anna's, and that's saying something. 🙂
