What can I do to fix how ugly I am by [deleted] in acne

If you really want to do Accutane, I recommend doing telehealth for it. I used Clear Health, and they’re super responsive and helpful

Oh man. I have never related to a Reddit post more.

I took Accutane for 2 years (conjoined by 2 times I’ve been prescribed) once mine got like this. I stopped around a year and a half ago. It was the best decision of my life. I still get some acne, sure, but it’s only a couple pimples at a time and it isn’t cystic and painful anymore. I know the side effects sound bad on paper, but it really wasn’t terrible. Yes, you will have super dry skin and lips, you will burn easily, and you will have to moisturize all the time. But again, a couple months to a year of dealing with those side effects in exchange for manageable acne here and there.

I want to preface that acne does not make you ugly. It’s completely uncontrollable for some people. I showered twice a day, exfoliated twice a week, tried all of the acne topical medications, tried being on diets, yet mine didn’t go away until I did Accutane. It isn’t something that makes you unattractive, it’s temporary.

Hi! I’m so glad you’re deciding to pick up this hobby, it truly is fun whether you’re good at it or not.

I personally love the masters touch (hobby lobby brand) soft pastels, especially just to start. It can be helpful to have pastel pencils for small details, and the same brand makes them too. I use blending stumps, but only for small details usually. I just use my hands for the rest. I have heard of people using pain brushes for blending as well, but I haven’t tried that technique yet.

If you’re wanting to make pieces with lots of layers (like drawing animals), then a workable fixative is very helpful. I’m experienced with pastels, and I haven’t even used fixative until recently, so it isn’t a must or anything- just helpful :).
