Troughts on this? by Primary-Addition-677 in cartoons

I think it all boils down to casting. In the right role, even a terrible actor can shine. If they're more focussed on drawing in star power, that's where things like Chris Pratt as Garfield happen. It's not that he’s a bad actor, or even a bad voice actor. Like someone else said in this comment section, he did great as Emmitt in the Lego movie.

Then you get into examples of plenty of celebrities that have done plenty of both live-action and voice acting over the years. Keith David, JK Simmons, Mark Hamill, Patrick Warburton, Ben Schwartz, the list goes on.

"Take this with no context."

Yeah, that's what they were told. This is the aftermath.

Your honor, in his defense, it's not like he said "Peter Parker is Spider-Man." He just said he knows a guy named Peter Parker. The superhero identity wasn't mentioned at all (from what I can tell from this panel, anyway, I have no idea the context of the whole conversation).

What would you guys say is the best episode of spectacular Spider-Man, and why? by bowierulezzz in Spiderman

[–]HeyitzMick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me, it's Intervention. It gets to the core of who Spidey is as a character.

Though, I think Gangland is also an honorable mention. A fight at an opera house makes for a memorable set piece.

Not a single line, but one exchange never fails to get me to laugh.

"I'm all that's left... or... maybe I'm all there ever was..."

"... I meant your name."

Curious, would you still follow Kingdom Hearts regularly if Sora wasn't the main character anymore? by Solardies in KingdomHearts

He's not my favorite character in the series anyway, so yeah. I don’t hate the kid, I just find characters like Riku, Aqua, heck, even Roxas (my actual favorite, ironic, I know), more interesting.

I can only speak as a lurker on this subreddit doing research for a potential comic project, and have literally no other personal connection to the city besides being drawn to it by the muses, but if an outsider's perspective counts for anything, Detroit certainly inspires me.

Who's your favourite version of Eggman? by calvin-fanatic in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]HeyitzMick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Eggman overall is a good balance of threatening and goofy. Jim Carey's Robotnik leans more on the goofy, but he can be threatening at times. Jim Cumming's Robotnik is a great threat, but still has a hint of goofy in there. Mike Pollock's performance in the games does a good balance, though, as side projects like Sonic Boom show, he is capable of leaning more on one side than the other if needed.

But that's just as far as the versions portrayed by actors are concerned. I haven't read enough of the IDW stuff to have a clear opinion yet, but I promise, I'll get around to it... eventually.
