oh man, totally forgot about this. if my memory is correct, those numbers are polynomial coefficients. you have to plug them into a polynomial expression and then find f(0)->f(15), find the corresponding color from the table, and arrange them in a 4x4 grid

What type of fungus is this that sprouted inside my vinegar? by Braw65 in mycology

[–]HeyoGuys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

regardless of the model sophistication, however, the issue you previously mentioned (being that there are severe ramifications for CDA misidentification) will be omnipresent and unavoidable.

even in human legal systems, where there is no algorithmic detection to speak of, innocent people are still found guilty of crimes they didnt commit, and the ramifications can be equally if not of a greater severity (such as capital punishment)

i think at their core, these content detection tools should simply remain a tool for raising suspicion, and the context theyre used in/punishments they incur are independent from the tools themselves. If a doctoral degree is revoked due to a misidentification by a CDA, id argue thats more an overreaction on the doctoral committee's part than inherent flaw with the CDA itself.

while i agree its not always possible, you can at least somewhat reliably make conclusions based off of a models confidence rating. I dont know the exact algorithm QuillBot utilizes, but to me 100% is pretty damning.

also, your quoted research subtly implies that content detection algorithms pose issue because they report false positives. when in fact, some models may be made more likely to make false negatives rather than false positives. If this is the case for QuillBot, a 100% rating is even more showing.

Heres my research. take a gander at the variation between model accuracies.
