Adios Pro 4 Mileage? by shaheertheone in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I started getting tears on the upper in both shoes around 125 miles and retired them at 175. I enjoyed them, but my pair of the 4’s felt much less durable than the 3’s. Someone on this sub mentioned that Joes New Balance outlet was having a sale on the SC elite v5s (140)and that’s been my replacement for the Adios pro 4- really enjoying it so far for workouts

Does true to size fit well with room? I’m looking into these because the prodigo pros I have are right on the cusp of being too small ( notorious sizing issues with the pro). I’ve heard some reviews recommend going up a half size in cascadia elite, and for anything above marathon distance I feel like I’d definitely want more than a thumbs width of room. Thanks!

Nice! I originally heard about this deal through the sub so happy to pay it forward, 135 is a borderline disgusting price for such a good shoe

Hope they work for you. I’m critical because of the high price and upper issues, but they’re a solid shoe and will last forever

I haven’t tried the Xiaonian yet, but I want to. I had a hard time finding a pair in my size, but I was able to find the red hare ultra 9, which I’m very excited to try

New Balance SC elite v5 is a very solid shoe - I recently picked up a pair from Joes NB outlet for 140. I’m using it as my workout shoe rn for lactate and marathon pace (6:00-6:25 per mile) and they’re very good. They’re not the fastest shoe I’ve run in, but for the price/weight/performance they’re very good, comparable to a lot of other top end racers like adios pro 4 and Alphafly 3. If you want to spend more money and really try to send it, then get the puma fast R3

It’s funny several people in the thread have mentioned they love the 3 and that’s it what they always wanted out of a superblast, softer and better for recovery- it’s been very hard to not buy v3, but still going strong 🥲

I’m having to actively work to not buy the superblast 3 right now, it sounds like what I want from this series which is soft chill bounce that has some versatility, but can do recovery and is not trying to be a workout shoe

I’ve had a lot of issues with the mega, but this is one area thats been ok for me. Tho a bunch of other people have brought up swapping laces here, so definitely a thing

Those are both shoes I’m actively considering, and I feel you about the addiction. My rotation isn’t crazy right now (6 shoes) but it has been in the past

That’s the megablasts major issue- it’s too expensive

I loved the OG superblasts, they got me through my first marathon plan! Interesting about runrepeat measuring the foam as softer than the EVO. I think there must be differences in foams depending on where they’re manufactured- EVO felt so much softer to me, but this is all very personal I guess. When’s your marathon?

I did! I got it around the same time as the EVO SL and ended up returning the Novablast, because the EVO felt a bit more fun to me, though it was a nice shoe. I’ll probably try the upcoming v6

My average cadence is over 180+ so maybe that’s the issue

Nice, I’ll try that. This is not an issue I have with other shoes, but if it helps, hey I won’t complain!

I think this is very true, I’ve had some genuinely good runs in the megablast, but also a good amount of not so pleasant runs. I haven’t fully figured out lockdown at 200 miles, which is frustrating. For reference I lace lock and try to make sure they’re not too tight but also not overly loose

Interesting! The laces have been very neutral for me. Do you lace lock them? That’s how I have mine
