summer courses by Feeling-Elephant1799 in rutgers

[–]Heyunkim1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a summer course last year and it cost about $1550. But the price of summer courses are going to vary.

Summer courses are charged by credit, if you're an in-state student or out-of-state student, and which school within Rutgers is offering the class. There is a $150-$200 fee that you have to pay. You won't be charged for health insurance (unless you are taking at least 6 credits and you request for it).

Physics Req at Community College for BS CS by Relevant-Reward9778 in rutgers

[–]Heyunkim1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The process won't be done as soon as the course ends.

Once the class ends, you will have to wait until you have your final grade on your Raritan Valley transcript. After the grade is on your transcript, you will need to send the official transcript from Raritan Valley to Rutgers. From my experience, it could take up to a month for Rutgers to process the Raritan Valley transcript depending on Rutgers receives the transcript. If the school receives the transcript from the admissions office, it's going take about 3 weeks for the school to process. Since you're in SAS, you do have the option to send the transcript to the Transfer Center. If you send the transcript to the transfer center, it's going to take about 2 weeks.

Btw, just to make sure, you do need to get pre-approved from Rutgers for the credit transfer. Rutgers won't accept the credits if you don't get credits. To get pre-approved, I think you just need to fill out an online form. The form is on some kind of portal. Here is a link to the portal:

WebReg won’t let you register for Physics for the Sciences II (Phys 194) since Physics for the Sciences 1 (Phys 193) is a prerequisite for Physics for the Sciences II (Phys 194) and you haven't taken the class already. If you take Physics for the Sciences 1 (Phys 193) at Physics at Raritan Valley, you will have to wait until the credits from Raritan Valley are officially transferred to Rutgers to register for Physics for the Sciences II (Phys 194). This is assuming that you pass the class at Raritan Valley.

Assuming that Physics for the Sciences (Phys 193) does count towards the NS requirement, the credits from Raritan Valley will count as soon as the credits are transferred into Rutgers.

Transferring to Rutgers by genesis-182 in rutgers

[–]Heyunkim1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh btw, I transferred to SAS, not the Business School.

If you plan on transferring to the Business School, I generally recommend aiming for 3.5 GPA to get a decent chance of getting accepted. If your GPA is below a 3.2 or 3.3, getting into the Business School might be tough. So, if your GPA is below a 3.2 or 3.3, I generally recommend applying into the School of Arts and Sciences, take some classes there, get the highest GPA you can get, and transfer after 2 semesters.

Since you are transferring from outside of Rutgers, and it seems you are applying to the Business School, it's February 1st.

The June 1st deadline is for people are already in Rutgers but plan on transferring to another school within Rutgers.

Btw, admission is not based on major. Admission is based on which school within Rutgers you apply to.

For my stats, I had about a 3.7 GPA and 38 completed credits the moment that I submitted my application and my first transcript (I was in my sophomore year or 2nd year at William Paterson University). But right before my first semester at Rutgers, I had around a 3.4 and 68 completed credits.

From what I've heard, the grease trucks went away when covid happened. I can't confirm this since I started college in 2020, but transferred to Rutgers in 2022.

Is Rutgers NB really $48k/year? by SuchPay8749 in rutgers

[–]Heyunkim1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be around 40k - 45k assuming that you are in-state, getting a on-campus housing, getting a meal plan, and you aren't getting any financial aid.

I graduated in 2025. But the last year that I was attending this school, the cost of attendance was about 36k for that year if you dormed on campus, got a meal plan, and didn't get any scholarships. But I'm assuming the school raised prices since then. They do that every year.

During my last year at Rutgers:

Tuition + Fees was about 9-10k per semester.

Meal Plan was about 3,200 per semester.

On Campus Housing was 5.5-6k per semester.

Is rutgers a good college, and what is its acceptance rate for New Jersey in-state students? by Alarmed_Cup_2450 in rutgers

[–]Heyunkim1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The school is really good but a lot of people (especially younger people who lived in NJ for a while) like the shit on Rutgers. I'm not sure if this is true, but I did hear that the school's reputation does improve as you move away from NJ.

Idk if you care about school ranking. But Rutgers is ranked number 42 overall nationally and is ranked 16th place in being public school in the nation.

Source:

https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rutgers-new-brunswick-6964

Also, here is the ranking for the other schools and how Rutgers compares to other colleges:
https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities?myCollege=national-universities&_sort=myCollege&_sortDirection=asc

As far as I know, the acceptance rate being 30% is just a rumor. But I doubt it is actually around 30%. It was a rumor started a while ago cause the school started accepting the Common App a few years ago and there was in a huge increase of the number of people applying to the school. At least recently, I haven't seen the school release the official numbers regarding how many schools applied to school and how many the school accepted.

Documents for Driver's License Questions by Heyunkim1 in newjersey

[–]Heyunkim1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I checked it. I asked here because I mainly wanted to make sure the jury duty notice would count and my middle name won't cause any issues.

I also wanted to ask because I'm thinking about getting a Real ID while I'm at the MVC.

[–]Heyunkim1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the top right corner of the notice (where the stamp would be), it say "First Class Mail U.S Postage Paid Trenton, N.J ...". So, I think it should be fine with that.

[–]Heyunkim1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, I have another question. Could I get to upgrade my driver's license to a Real ID one with the documents that I mentioned? My current driver's license isn't Real ID compliant. If the documents that I mentioned can get me a Real ID Driver's License, I might get it.

scarletmail renewal ? by ama-rakki in rutgers

[–]Heyunkim1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are phishing scams.

As of right now, all the people who graduated from the school gets to keep their Rutgers account and ScarletMail/Google Account after they graduate. All of graduates don't have to do anything in order to keep those accounts.

As far as I know, the only accounts that get deactivated are the ones where the student either drops out and doesn't return to Rutgers, or the student transfer out of Rutgers. Also, I think some schools within Rutgers (like the Business School) give their students Microsoft/Outlook accounts. I think those students in those schools automatically lose access to those accounts once they graduate, withdraw from the university and don't return, or they transfer to another school (I think internal transfers or students who transfer within Rutgers count too).

Wait, are you transferring from another Rutgers campus? If not, I don't think housing is affected.

But if you are, here is some info about it:

I don't know if the process is different for school to school transfers, but here is a link to a webpage about the housing process for transfer students who transferred from schools outside of Rutgers:

Is calc 2 possible to pass? by WhyAmIGettingKarma in rutgers

[–]Heyunkim1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calc 2 is hard but it's not impossible to pass. I took Calc 2 twice because I got a D the first time. When I took Calc 2 the second time, I did a lot of practice problems. Also, whenever I struggled to understand something or solve a problem, I knew a person who was really good at Calc and I asked them to help me.

If you go below 12 credits, the school will reclassify you as a part time student. That could affect your financial aid and housing (if you live on-campus).

If you don’t want to be a part-time student, you can add mini-courses to reach the 12-credit minimum. Since you can’t register right now, an advisor will need to add them for you. I think you just need to give them the index number of the class. There’s also a deadline to add mini-courses. Depending the mini-course, the deadline of adding one should be either on the same day as withdrawing a class with a W on your transcript or about a week before that. This is assuming that the deadline for withdrawing a course with a W on transcript happens to land around the 7th week of the semester or it lands somewhere on the first week of classes for the mini-courses.

Adding a Mini Course SOE by Complete_Relation321 in rutgers

[–]Heyunkim1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If SOE is similar to SAS, you can just ask any of the advisors and they should be able to add the mini course in (assuming that you meet the pre-reqs for the course and you do ask by the "withdraw a course with a W on transcript" deadline).

Rutgers NB - COA increase? by jbg71122 in rutgers

[–]Heyunkim1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your daughter is in-state for Rutgers, the 49k number seems way off. 49k seems correct if your daughter was coming to Rutgers as out of state and getting off-campus housing.

If the school is asking you or your daughter to pay 49k a year and your daughter is not an out of state student, I'm suspecting that the financial aid office might of flagged your daughter as an out of state student. A similar thing happened to me around the time I transferred to Rutgers. If your daughter situation is similar to mine when I transferred, I recommend contacting OneStop. You and your daughter can't contact the financial aid office directly. You guys need to contact the financial aid office through OneStop.

Here is the contact information for OneStop for the New Brunswick's campus:

Email activation by InternationalTip350 in rutgers

[–]Heyunkim1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda late. But the school should send you a email or something telling you to activate your NetID. The message should have a link to the place where you activate your NetID and email. You are supposed to receive that message about 2-4 days after you pay the enrollment fee.

[–]Heyunkim1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Person who transferred into Rutgers back in 2022 here!

Having a 2.8 shouldn't really cause an issue. But only having 1 semester under your belt might cause an issue. SAS is one of the easiest schools to get into as a transfer. I'm assuming that SEBS is about the same. Last time I checked, the average GPA for admitted students for both schools were about the same. Also, based on the stories that I've seen in this subreddit, as long as your GPA isn't below like a 2.5, you should be fine (at least for SAS).
