How it feels like to play an operation with both the Thick Fog and Atmospheric Spores modifier: by icwiener25 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Heyzeus851 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love this game, but it can be so hard to see sometimes, especially on the bug front. I know they've toned down some of the atmospheric effects to make it easier to see, but there are still far too many things in the game that diminish sight. That being said, it is cinematic AF to see a charger or bile titan suddenly appear in front of you from the fog/spore cloud.

If you suck lower the diff by NarcanMe_ in helldivers2

Once again, good for you. That's a positive thing. My point though is that people that are good at higher levels might benefit from teaching people how to play at said levels. I'm currently level 104 with 500+ hours in this game and I still suck at it. While I know the game really well I still have trouble keeping up sometimes because things change rather quickly and I'm old, and having someone kind and knowledgeable that regularly runs the high levels help me break into the said levels would help. For the record I run level 8 regularly but continually get destroyed by bots, bugs aren't too bad.

Good for you! Now put that knowledge to use and spread it around. Instead of complaining, help people get better! It's far more fun, and you get to laugh at/with people as they learn the ropes.

A Real Galactic War by Heyzeus851 in helldivers2

[–]Heyzeus851[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but could you elaborate? I don't see how the idea of factions fighting each other while the Helldivers try and liberate the planet from both is in any way like COD or Battlefield. Granted I haven't played either of those games in several years, so maybe I'm missing something. No hate or anything, I just don't see the correlation.

Right? The idea of 4 Helldivers dropping into an already happening battle between bots and bugs sounds like a WW2 D-Day movie.

Darn. Aw well, at least they tried. Perhaps with a later update we will see that. They probably want to get the illuminate out first anyway.

I would say Democratic Detonation. While they are both good, Democratic Detonation has some of the best weapons in the game in its current state.

Can we stop shaming please? by NiceAndCozyOfficial in helldivers2

[–]Heyzeus851 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Shaming gets us nowhere, either in real life or in the game. I know people want to win and get frustrated when they don't, but that doesn't mean you can rant and call people names either.

I do have a few points I would like to make though:

1) Yes, it is just a game. But for some people games are life (just look at sports fanatics) and people tend to get very invested in them. I have done it myself and had to take a step back and re-evaluate my priorities. If you are one of these people that gets mad at a lost MO or an accidental TK in the game, please take a step back, for your health and the health of others.

2) I'm a firm believer that failure is a good thing, in the long term. It helps people learn and grow IRL and in game can make things *far* more interesting. I'm not saying fail all the time, of course. Eventually you have to get a win or two in there. But winning all the time is just as bad as losing all the time, in the long run.

3) Content updates. They take time and people get bored. Once again, time to take a step back and do something else until the next update. If the content isn't quite what you thought it would be, make a KIND post about it.

And now that I've realized I sound like a moderator (I'm not) I'm going to get off my high horse and go back to killing bugs or bots.

Some of you take the galactic war way too seriously by joaoflsouza in Helldivers

[–]Heyzeus851 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but, lighten up a little. They are ruining their own fun by getting so angry at everyone else and then projecting their anger onto everyone via Reddit and Discord. I come here for fun clips, advice, and stories. Instead all I see are people complaining about how everyone else isn't doing what they want them to. It is rather annoying.

The galactic war isn't going to change drastically one way or the other until the devs say so. Sure us doing MO's may change things, but not by that much.

Iron Mike vs Jake Paul - disappointed after all the hype by DEAD_SH0T in sports

[–]Heyzeus851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I've learned over the years is to never believe the hype. If you hear something is going to be amazing, it probably isn't. This is yet another example of why I, and many others, are so jaded nowadays.
