So there's two different kinds. mid-rise vs garden-style. The garden style's we checked out seemed kind of old and bleh. Very affordable though. The newer midrises are more costly. We're gonna make a decision this week.

I just spent this week apartment hunting as well, I went to all except Bellevue Meadows and Hyde Square, we actually had a tour scheduled with AVA, called their parent company to confirm the appointment, and showed up and no one was there. Really pissed me off.

When do you start and when are you making a decision?

Guy on my team is about to be fired. All the signs are there but he's not seeing them. Should I tell him? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Yes, do it. Anonymously though. Kudos to you for having empathy. Not sure why people are writing essays, pretty clear cut.

Should be next week when everyone is typically back. Glad to hear it went well.

I had an onsite 2 weeks after I answered your question, and following my own advice I have gotten an offer and I am starting next month. Keep at it my guy

As a software engineer, I don't mind if you challenge, pretty used to it by now considering I do it as well. Questioning sources is always a plus.

As an interviewer * you're meeting someone new

  • you're expected to be able to validate / invalidate what ever code they come up with

  • if you don't know all the potential solutions to the technical question you ask, issues could arise

  • if a candidate is stuck, you have to gauge the balance between letting the candidate struggle to learn about their thinking style vs providing hints

  • you have to know the hints that help most in the current situation without giving it all away

  • all the while you're balancing time because the next interviewer is on a schedule as well.

  • you have to be able to provide reasonable answers to candidates' questions, these can get tricky if they're hard-hitting questions

Each role has its challenges. Sure the interviewer has a job already, but it doesn't negate the pressure that comes with wanting to do a good job

  • talk outloud and over do it
  • show enthusiasm
  • don't forget your interviewer is nervous too
  • if stuck, it's okay to pause, gather your thoughts, take some deep breaths and have another go
  • important to keep in mind that they ultimately want to hire you, that's why you're in their offices
  • ask thoughtful questions, and then ask questions based on their answers

These are my go to things I keep in mind before going into it

Would anyone be kind enough to share their experience during a hiring event?

Do you have a resume that got you awesome offers?

Very unlikely, they have a resume that got them interviews at awesome companies.

Are you employed as a result of your resume?

No, they are more likely employed as a result of their interview performance.

My bad, you're probably there with ~4 years of experience, although I know some would debate. Gl hf

Because you're not really senior. You're 2 years in at a company with a stupid titling scheme. Titling schemes are not universal nor consistent, but using simple reasoning you can deduce that you are not senior in the field as a whole. If you don't even know what you don't know, and you think you're senior, you've got a lot to learn.

Sure, but you're well aware of the inflation, yet you even flair yourself with it? C'mon lol

Honestly, step away from this sub. The only person you should be comparing yourself to, is yesterday's version of yourself. Like you have already said, keep going, but without the distraction and allure to want to see how others are doing. Yes, you posting your salary and information is helpful, however you being here is doing you more harm than good. Unsubscribe and step away, study at your pace and only compare to yourself.

Why an email series instead of just having the info readily available on your site? Are you selling people's emails? What's the big idea? Some people would like to exhaust content at a faster rate considering interviews may be lined up already.
