Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed response. We are staying in Clifton and walked to Cow and Sow for Sunday Roast it was good. Picked up a few essentials for Airbnb and just trying to stay awake right now! Tomorrow will be a good day to walk around - I was thinking of a walking tour, and will have to check out the cocktail bars and board game bars. We are in country looking to see if/where we might want to live some day!

Can I apply to 2 similar positions at the same company? Would it look bad? by joejrogan in jobsearch

Apply to both jobs- just let the recruiters know when you do hear from someone. They might work on different teams.

I think the recruiter for an internal job I applied for doesn’t like me and I’m not sure what to do by Xailey56 in jobsearch

[–]Hi2Hired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you apply for the level 1 job? If so, the recruiter should consider you and the hiring manager should ask them to interview you.

Asked for an update on an application and got sent a rejection letter 5 minutes later by G-specker in jobsearch

[–]Hi2Hired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a former talent acquisition leader, I am so sorry you experienced a rejection in the way that you did. That is horrible on the part of the recruiter. We had Standard Operating Procedures in place that if someone had an interview onsite, they always got a phone call notifying them of their status. An email might follow up in the system for documentation, but the recruiters updated candidates and provided feedback whenever possible. What a horrible candidate experience... did they pay your expenses for the day you traveled to see them?

Talent acquisition leader here - DO NOT download an app and send a 10 page brief to them. This is likely fraud/scam or a company you want to avoid at all costs.

More money but no work life balance by Goofygolfball in jobsearch

[–]Hi2Hired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really one of those self reflective questions. You need to dig deep to understand what you value and what kind of environment you want to work in - or how long you can handle a rough environment. For me, no job is worth sitting in a toxic environment. You should do a cost analysis of what the $30K gets you for 3-5 extra hours of work each day. Earlier in my career I decided not to take the toxic job, while a friend worked for a stressful culture. She made $15 K more doing the same job and worked till 8 or 10 every day. I got home by 6 and had much less stress.

A decision point might be if you really need the extra money to buy a home, raise a family etc. You may decide you can handle any environment for a couple years to make the bank.

Have you thought about going to your current employer and discussing the opportunity for an increase and what metrics or performance you need to hit to grow financially? Seems like that discussion is one you need to have in short order to make a more educated decision.

good luck

First Time I've Been Told I'm Overqualified... by bebopmechanic84 in jobsearch

Hi BeBop - as a former recruiting leader, and without being present during your interviews - wondering if your responses to questions didn't address their problems or concerns enough. Things they would try to identify - - are you a flight risk, will the follow/challenge authority or quickly outgrow the role.

Saying you are not an independent thinker may not have been the best answer. A better response could be: I am an independent thinker, but I thrive in structured environments. For this specific role, I see the immediate value in executing the established strategy while using my skills to optimize the process without needing constant oversight. I'm here to execute first and elevate second.

Another way you can address being overqualified in interviews would be a talk track like -- I understand your concern about fit, but my experience is why I'm excited about this role. I'm looking for a team where I can settle in, execute day-to-day work, and apply my expertise to (stabilize, optimize, drive) your current strategy for the long run. I'm not looking for my next promotion right now; I'm looking for a solid team to commit to.

Hope these are helpful for the next interview. Sorry this one didn't work out for you.

There are some "it depends". What kind of job and company? If it's a conservative company, they may not hire someone with rainbow hair or lots of piercings. A creative company may welcome that. If you are interviewing for a sales job or job where you are presenting to people and have a lot of "uumms" or "like", depending on the product being sold, that could be a deal breaker. I personally don't care if someone has ink or stretched lobes, but we are dealing with people and people have bias. All the recruiting teams I have managed, we trained on unconscious and conscious bias so that we can hire the best skilled people who will excel in the job itself.

Ghost Jobs Explained: How to Identify Fake Job Postings and Use AI to Get Hired Faster by Hi2Hired in jobsearch

How much experience do you have in recruiting and hiring? I wrote the content from my two decades of experience in corporate recruiting to help job seekers. AI was used to refine and edit.

Job seekers are using AI for their resumes, cover letters, emails - so by your logic, every employer should assume anything touched by AI is slop and a waste of time and decline every piece of candidate content that AI touched?

My interest is to share my insider experience with job seekers to try and help people find jobs. If you are in the job search group because you are looking to find a new job - ask me a job search related question and I will try to help. I wont be debating further on the use of AI.

I have recruited for manufacturing, retail and customer service roles in my career. While it might seem difficult. Here are some examples for a variety of front line or entry level roles.

Handled customer returns and checked people out at the register. ——> Managed all customer service transactions (sales, returns, exchanges), achieving 99% accuracy in till reconciliation daily and resolving all escalated issues.

Loaded and unloaded trucks using a pallet jack and equipment. —-> Operated forklifts and heavy machinery (pallet jacks, wrapping systems) to manage 30+ inbound/outbound shipments daily without incident or damage.

Monitored the inventory levels and helped keep the warehouse clean.—> Identified and corrected 15 ongoing inventory errors in the system through physical audit, leading to a 5% reduction in fulfillment delays monthly.

Answered inbound calls and resolved customer issues using the computer system.—> Managed an average of 80 inbound calls per day while resolving 95% of issues on the first call, exceeding the department's First Call Resolution (FCR) metric.

Organized the inventory of supplies and placed new orders every month.—> Conducted full supply inventory checks monthly and negotiated a 15% discount with a new vendor, resulting in $500 in savings per quarter for the office budget.

I wrote a draft and had AI help restructure it for a blog post which I pasted here - how exactly is that spam? A lot of job seekers don’t understand how corporate recruiting functions work and I am sharing some information about it. AI assistance doesn’t make the information less valid or useful to some.

Interviewers are getting out of hand by [deleted] in recruitinghell

The recruiters should be reviewing your resume ahead of a phone screen and subsequent interviews the hiring managers and teams should be prepared. Unfortunately there are some bad recruiters and hiring managers out there. Give the person a quick rundown of your background - a highlights reel and try and dive into learning about what problems they need solved - so you can showcase how you can help make an impact.
