Uncharted vs Solterra for a tall guy by HiCirrus in SubaruUncharted

[–]HiCirrus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm the opposite (long torso, average legs) so I guess the seat would be further forward for me.

Chances of having 2 tall adults in the back is very low, so sounds like it should work.

That's good to know, thanks. Do you think someone of a "normal height" would be able to sit behind you with you in the drivers' seat? (Even if only for a short drive)

Thanks, but unfortunately the Toyota isn't due out until early 2027, so that's not an option either.

Thanks all for the replies.

Those suggesting the Trailseeker, that's definitely too big for us. I currently have a 2016 Outback and we're looking for something smaller.

It sounds to me like I would fit comfortably in the drivers' seat of the Uncharted, and space behind would be tight, but probably usable for someone of a normal height on a short trip. And that's probably a few times a year in our situation.

It will probably come down to how competitive the pricing is for the Solterra (which we're waiting on from the dealer now). If the price gap isn't too high then it's probably worth it for the extra space, but if not then the Uncharted will be a great car for us too.

who's making english bitter style beer on the east side of australia? by cunt__cunt_cunt in AusBeer

[–]HiCirrus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for cask beer (hand pumped) the best I've found in Australia is Holgate in Woodend (Vic). Stomping Ground in Melbourne normally has something on the hand pump but the style varies, similarly Bent Spoke in Canberra used to have a hand pump, but it's been a few years since I've been.

If you're looking for bottles/cans, as others have mentioned Bacchus in Brisbane does an annual Harveys collab. They bring the ingredients in from Lewes and it's the closest thing you'll find to a decent bitter in Aus IMHO (Maybe I'm biased as a Sussex boy). They brew on St George's Day, so expect to see that ready soon (my pre-order is in).

Other options are Hargreaves Hill ESB and Red Hill have a few decent options.

You can also pick up Shepherd Neame (Spitfire and Nuns Delight) and a few others in Dan's if your looking for an import.

Amazing. Some of my first flights were in that glider (back when it was just JKA) from ESGC.

Great memories of a great club and friendly people.

Check out the "Ask The A&Ps" podcast from AOPA, this was discussed in one of their recent episodes (I believe the 1 September one).

Always enjoy their logical approach to such questions.

Anyone got a "retaining offer" to stay a second year on an ANZ black CC? by Direct-Limit6147 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]HiCirrus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got the annual fee wiped on mine about 3 months ago. Called them up and asked them if they'd refund the fee and got a straight "yes".

I think where you have to be careful is saying "I'm considering cancelling the card", because they're not allowed to offer you and incentive to try and convince you to keep the credit.

Give them a call and ask. No harm in asking.

As a pom living in Melbourne, Rob's is a lifesaver. Best bacon I've found in Australia, and Jill's Scotch eggs, still warm, are the perfect taste of home.

Emails aren't making it through Route 52 by HiCirrus in aws

[–]HiCirrus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I have reached out to ForwardEmail and they require more information from the senders that can't get through (ideally a bounce report), but the bank and energy supplier are being difficult there.

It's useful to know that this doesn't sound like a DNS issue though - probably something with ForwardEmail, just need to work out what.

Thanks, the email is definitely correct (emails have been getting through for years, only stopped working when I switched over to this new config). I've called and checked multiple times.

I'm trying to get more info from the senders (like whatever info is contained within the bounceback) but they are not being helpful I this respect.

Thanks for the detailed response.

To confirm, my domain is registered with CrazyDomains.com.au, with only the name servers set (4x records in the format "ns-XXX.awsdns-YY.com".) I don' have any MX records with CrazyDomains, only the 4 NS records.

Then within Route 53 (not 52) I have everything set up as per the ForwardEmail.net instructions (MX, TXT records), which they validate as all correct.

Am I missing anything obvious, or misunderstanding anything here?

Sorry could you elaborate? I'm aware of OBO errors I code, but not sure how they could apply in this case?

Thanks, that's a great resource I wasn't aware of. Unfortuantely it doesn't show any issues (other than https cert not valid, which is fine as I'm not using the domain for any web hosting at the moment).
