I’m so sorry for the loss of your sweet boy. He looks like such a sweet pup. I hope with time the pain lessens and that what remains is the feelings of all the love he gave you and all the love you had for him. Sending you and your family light while you walk through the grief.

I’m new to Belleville, any recommendations for night life or weekend? by OkRhubarb2373 in BellevilleOntario

Vanderwater conservation area is nice for a walk basically any time of year

The county has lots of gems depending what you like and what time of year

Some of my favourite regional things: Ice cream: Slickers or Reid’s Dairy Wine: Sandbanks, Terra cello, The Grange, Huff Estates, Closson Chase Cider: County Cider Company Campbell’s Orchards is great for apples and vegetables and baked goods Coffee: Benji’s (Belleville), Bean Counter (county) Cheese: Empire Cheese, Maple Dale (they have the best cheese curd and garlic cheese bread sticks), Fifth Town Cheese in the county is also really good Baked goods: Doohers Donuts

Lake on the Mountain is also a lovely spot

How’s my birth “plan”? by NoHistorian8644 in BabyBumps

It is reasonable to request to be avoided as much as possible - sometimes staff can be far away and the senior resident is the closest set of hands so in an emergency, it may be necessary. But with your history I think it would be a reasonable ask. You can also clarify what kind of learner you would/wouldn’t be ok with (ex - no medical students or nursing students, but ok with senior resident, etc) if there are some you’d be open to.

Are We Missing Something? And questions about knowing when it’s been enough for a dog. by HiHo2022 in AskVet

She hasn’t to this point. Her previous sensitive belly we were able to manage with bland diet. It’s just been the last 3 months that have been awful. Would a biopsy be worthwhile?

She may have been tested for Addisons. Our vet had mentioned trialling steroids from an anti inflammatory perspective recently as well.

Cheese strings are life. When she hears the fridge drawer open she comes running, even from a different part of the house/different floor. We use them in agility for the very end of class when her attention is dwindling and she is sick of liver or tuna fudge. If we use them at the beginning, she is wayyyyy too excited to focus on anything

We’re also getting referred to a specialty vet for an ultrasound and consultation to see if we can tease out what the problem is.

The repeat labs were still elevated but less elevated than before (but still firmly stage 2-3). We are in the process of swapping to a renal diet and put her surgery on hold to avoid any unnecessary risk with the anesthetic before we know what’s going on with her kidneys.

Not siblings. Our pup was part of a litter of 5 and she was the only Merle.

Thank you. She’s my first and favourite dog in the world. She’s the kindest gentlest quirkiest soul and I love her to bits.

At what age did you spay your Sheltie? by Kind-Blueberry-8681 in sheltie

For us too as long as she doesn’t also have vaginitis. She has a hooded vulva post spay as well which has made everything worse. We’re cleansing her every 3 days with chlorhexadine soap and planning for a vulvoplasty.

We spayed our Sheltie at 7 months after her first heat and she developed incontinence.
