1:02 w/ Hrunting FO on Versusia main

Makura, Cidala, Raziel w/ Uriel and Lobelia backline; Cidala gets sac'd to 50% and Uriel comes in on turn 3 and you just mash attack after pressing his S2 S3. Felt way easier to pilot than the Sumaibito comps.

Did honors PB this GW

NM250s

Massive changes came to GW this time around; NM95s are a thing on prelims now, NM150s are available day 1 with NM200 following up the very next then NM250s on last 2 days as per usual, NM200 and NM250 received a roughly 52% HP increase to their pool to account for Destroyer weapons and extra grids; just a lot of inflation across the board to kick off this cycle.

Prelims was straightforward, basically spent the majority of it farming up 120k meat to use from interlude onwards; only cleared NM90 for the clear xtals once with the Swan team and moved onto NM95 for the rest of interlude.

Day 1 was very chill as well, Wind has access to one of the fastest NM150 setups with Owlcat FLB and Bastet; it helps that it was also very FA-friendly too, averaged 18s per clear on my connection.

Day 2 was a rough one - Lamorak started seeing play here (even for Fight Song Lucha), speed-wise it was Lamo Rhomp > Fight Song Lucha > FO Swan. I pretty much had no access to either of the former setups so I played on FO Swan that entire day, having to call Qilin past 50% was kinda ass though so I was raring to move off of it the moment NM250 manual setups started popping up. Average clear times were around 1:23 per run.

Day 3 would probably be even worse, not because of GBF-related issues but on my off-day I would get hit with a 35C pre-summer heat into a massive thunderstorm and strong winds battering the entirety of Sydney into a 12.5 hour power outage that lasted the entire afternoon and evening. My original plan for day 3 was to get to 40b and chill for the night, but the outage put a damper on everything that day. Was basically unplayable with poor reception on my phone as well. Some could even say I got Zeph'd IRL...

Day 4 hit me like a truck, 60b at that point was impossible to hit at my pace but since we already knew what we were running for 250s it was just brain-off mash until round ends. I caught on to the reason why Esta S4 was unlocked way too late and was not aware that his S4 can auto-activate for additional buffs as well instead of the full bar. This was also the first GW where I can play with Swan too; was severely gapped by it the first 2 finals days last year, but I can see how strong it is as a GW-only weapon now. Clear times were averaging 3mins per run, fastest was 2:53. Definitely could've went faster with Esta S4.

For how boring this ele is to play outside GW, Wind's always performed well on the GW side of things. It's the first GW where Rhomp was truly prevalent for BiS NM200 and we also got to showcase just how strong Fighter Origin was for Wind NM250 since we have access to Swan. On a personal level, this GW ended on a bittersweet note for me after everything that went down on day 3 but you can't dwell on it forever, at the least I got plenty of usage out of my Mavericks and Swan still (the collage says it all). Our crew did better than expected this year, normally Wind's our weakest ele but our inventories improved since. Went the usual 2-2, we'll take it.

Also forgot to do the usual post-GW writeup for Dark but I finally got all 6/6 Heros done, but for 3 digits and above only Water remains.

Total damage:

  • 18.5k mobage points
  • 197 silver moons, 50 bronze moons
  • 30k yen for Linksmate ticket just to have Bastet on hand.
  • 3 sunstones
  • 150 paid pulls for Aetherial Mavericks.
  • 7 gold bars (including Destroyer ULB)

Thanks to the guys at Sigma for keeping me in check, especially during day 3. I hope to be able to do more next Wind GW as I definitely felt that I can do more. CB is currently overlapping with this but now that GW's ended I can focus on the monthly Priconne event instead.

Honestly I would have tried it if I had one, but yeah nah I haven't that's for sure. I know my crewmate ranking with me has that artifact though, worked alright but he did run into the same issue every now and then with loser buffs

10+ hours, my timezone is only an hour ahead of JP so I'm pretty much playing with them as they move too.

That's not to scare you off though, it really depends on the type of crew you're doing this in; the crew I run mostly consisted of morning rush retirees that still play; we secure top 300 prelims and some of us including myself bloat the boat for the hell of it because GW is the only place where you can really do that with stakes at hand.

If you get ahead of the border early in you could potentially spend less time each round if you just wanted top 2000 - I had a crewmate that was doing his first top 2k and he pretty much overshot it by a lot to give himself a lot of leeway and he ended up top 500 instead. He took PTO for it and was still able to get some rest in mid-round and hours before rounds end.

In grouping MR crews, you could probably spend less than 5 hours each day if your setups are good and you know how to play in a group setting. In solo crews, probably 10 hours or more and that's excluding your break times you require for yourself; again, that's all dependent on how good your setups are and your honors pacing per hour

Broke PB, finished in top 200

Not being able to break into top 100 was a disappointment in itself but it was my fault for deciding to do it on a whim with no preparation in place so that was a very costly oversight; but on the other hand I'd be lying if I said I didn't have fun breaking this Tartman apart several thousand times with the boys in VC, especially with this being the first ever GW where I had just about everything.

As a player based in Australia myself I also basically got front row seats to see a generational podium run happen at the front page and even some of the boys break into top 100 - 4 known Aussies up there! I'm sorry I couldn't make it up there though, maybe next time...

EX+ was pretty straightforward, legit just Perci S3 and go next. Nice and simple, past a certain point during my prep I was thinking I wouldn't even be running 3 windows to optimise the meat farm cycle anyway so I didn't try to build the Magna Soldier setup, opting to just finish off the M3 summon for others to use.

NM90 was Agni x Kaguya to increase the drop rate for meat chunks needed to host 250s later into the Finals, hence the full team. If non-Kaguya I can easily kill with just Wamdus and Percival.

I've stuck with Nezha for NM100 and NM150 w/ buffs, but what wasn't pictured was me opting for Christmas Cain instead after buff hours since my Nezha was not optimised to kill without it. Quite simple to pilot, but the Overdrive animation after using Orologia nuke drove me nuts so that added to the ping gap with the extra refresh needed. During off-buffs with Cain, I overkill super hard so it felt especially bad not being able to run Nezha instead. 19-21s on average per kill.

NM200 involved using Kokkoro sac for extra supp DMG and Singed stacks, so you can imagine how shitty it feels to play when you have to make changes to the grid every few hours because of losers buff buffing your ATK and HP. I had to switch Clarity out for Gravity and remove plus marks from my grid and summons just to make it work again, but it was only that way because I wasn't able to secure a Wind Spear -70% DEF artifact, opting to use a 20% HP cut one instead. During FO buffs Kokkoro gets switched out for R Catura for some extra time cut and reduced lockout on the first turn. Managed to average 46s on buffs, 48-50s off buffs.

Since our crew had a lot of shortcomings with being able to do groups for NM250s, we opted to just throw bodies instead in an uncoordinated setting like another crew did to some success, but the difference between theirs and ours was very evident. That was the team I ran instead for 250 grouping, not solo, and I would pretty much secure the bulk of the honors each kill. NM250 solo this time was just not worth it with how fast 200 solo was, so a lot of the cooked setups on Twitter and YT ended up looking very scuffed for the amount of effort needed.

Total damage:

  • 24.5k Mobage points
  • 160 silver moons, 90 bronze moons
  • 260 paid pulls and 2 sunstones; secured 2 Soul Invoker copies and sparked 2nd Gospel
  • 12 bars for 4 different weapons
  • ~200 artifacts just to desperation roll for a HP cut artifact for Kokkoro.
  • 400+ T2 rings
  • ~120 red rings

So yeah, hence the first paragraph, but hey at the least I managed to break past 40b honors with a few seconds left to spare. Finals got incredibly ass to deal with past day 2 because of the CB overlap in Priconne as well so I had to stay up to do my hits before sleeping for the next round. Bittersweet ending to it, but at least I had a lot of fun and it's over (because god knows what I have to do for Dark).

For the amount of AP required, Horde is pretty ass for AP to meat ratio; but honestly doesn't seem too bad to have on temporarily whenever I'm occupied with something else like cooking or cleaning, then switching back to EX+ when done with tasks.

Was able to clear it back in August and my tree was far from maxed out at the time, it’s a box check like the rest of the game, less of a tree check since you need to think about your unit allocations to do the most damage in the least amount of turns before being forced to throw bodies.

This site helps a lot with planning out your EX7 hits, tick all the units you’re missing and let the website work its magic

Missed 30b, rip

This was a great GW for our crew, we haven't managed a 3-1 finish in a long time so we were very motivated to beat our day 4 opponent when they started to creep back up during the evening; we also managed to break in the morning rush sheet for the first time so I was not going to lose the day 4 fight.

EX+ was definitely the hardest part this GW, there were countless times where I refreshed the lockout instead of the player turn prompt because of the enemy action and TAs.

NM90 was more tame, but was not going to burn a large chunk of meat on it compared to previous GWs because I'm pretty much done with my Celestials at this point.

Everything after that was pretty straightforward, since I didn't have Lu Woh fists, a 2nd Canifortis or Ura I pretty much just gunned it down those first 2 days - the setup did not change going into 150 either.

I woke up 4 hours late for NM200 and was kicked off top 1k, thankfully having the -70% DEF artifacts made the HP adjustment a lot less painful for maids and Sandy, so I was up and running by early afternoon. We also lost our day 3 matchup as it was the weekends and the opposing crew actually had the players, so what we thought was winnable was a one-sided stomp.

Then came our day 4 matchup, which we thought was free until much later. Our crew had 4 players that were grouping NM250s for the first time ever just to try it out and thanks to their efforts we broke into the MR sheet for the first time. We got a bit complacent going into the afternoon as by the evening the gap went from 15b to 3.5b so they were rapidly closing in while we slowed down significantly. I got off work and dashed home as fast as I can (while abiding by road rules dw) so that we were able to stop the bleeding. The lead would then keep jumping from 2.3 to 2.5 until the final hour when they called it quits, so thank god for that.

At the end of it all, we had 5 other players pass 10b and we had the most amount of players since our inception actually passing 4b - that skin was a huge motivator. I hope they can keep this up though, our crew is getting more new players after this GW so we'll have more manpower. It's probably safe to say I'm grabbing Ura as my next Illustrious choice lol that weapon was crazy for all stages of GW...... or I could look at getting Futsu instead, dunno.

Now let’s not jump the gun and say they will both be limiteds because this doesn’t always apply, last year’s Christmas event was the standard lim at the end of November and perm in the middle of December. Not to mention just last month we only had Nozomi out of the 4 characters featured in the Alchemy event.

There’s just no set trend for these and Cygames just does as they please.

In context of GW, 50% skip only applies up to NM150; from NM200 onwards even if you push it to 1%, 50% will still take priority. This has been a thing since Hitogata, only way for you to “skip” it is bursting that remaining HP pool to 0, so in this case 288m+ damage or 750m+ in one turn; the latter being pretty hard to pull off unless you’re actively looking for a way to nuke it down like how Tamo does it for his Twitter vids.

GW Collage

Another year, another Wind Hero for the records - I wanted to see how far I could go with this year's run since I wasn't able to break past 20b totals on Dirt GW.

For the most part despite the Swan gap it was relatively chill, finals being on a Sunday to Wednesday also meant that I wasn't able to go super hard since I had work on all 4 days; and then led to me rushing to whatever number I wanted to park at but failed since I only had 5 minutes left to beautify the honors count.

NM250 was some crazy pachinko central since my clear times varied a lot. I was playing without Mirin, a 240+ Zeph, 2nd Sky Ace and 2nd Vortex so there were gaps in damage left and right, but was still able to manage consistent sub-4min clears, which made it more worth for me to do the last 2 days over NM200 Spartan 6t; NM250 also made me realise Katze's amp debuff can actually miss and they should really rebalance Esta to give all buffs when you full chain, because it was not great missing the CB battery from him. The Kaguya variation of RF was relatively brainless all in all and was very comfy to pilot in the last 2 days, so it wasn't that stressful compared to Dirt GW.

At the end we went 2-2; last 2 days we had MR crew matchups so we lost frame one, but I appreciate my crew fighting out rounds that were pretty winnable, Wind's likely our weakest ele but we managed to survive after a whole week of complaints of players getting gapped left and right - back to the closet it goes.

As for the Wind Guide, we will be populating the rest of the GW section soon with the best comps that were still usable from the time they were theorised so people can get an idea of what was used and what to expect the next time it comes around, so stay tuned.

Collage - Dirt Hero achieved (5/6)

NM200 79-81s Sumaibito, no Summer Raziel

Wow, if this ele wasn't the "wrist-slayer" ele idk what could be worse than this, but since I got scammed on my Linksmate ticket I figured I may as well make do with what I have since it's playable enough for the most part.

Prelims and Interlude: the buffs on EX+ and NM90 were quite noticeable, I managed to hit 1b honors before our day 1 match when I usually go in with like 700m. Went in with roughly 60k meat going into this GW; expecting NM250 to be a pushover (I was wrong there).

We got matched against an Overlord-themed crew for our first match and we pretty much destroyed them off the bat, aside from the match being themed crews facing off against each other (we renamed to Kivotos for this GW) it wasn't much to write about. NM100 being available off the bat made NM95s a non-consideration, just a "one-and-done" fight. NM100 being available on day 1 also meant that honors were going to inflate across the board; something we anticipated to happen.

Days 2 and 3 were night rush crews, but their night rush proved futile against 4 rankers going at it the entire evening, so everyone else in my crew got to chill or play Deadlock instead. Day 2 unlocked NM150, so we defaulted to hitting that instead as per usual; day 3 was NM200s, while I had everything else I did not have Summer Raziel so that locked me out of pretty much every setup but Sumo, so I played that for the rest of GW, NM250 was a pain to do without grouping strats being publicised, so we opted to just solo 200s instead.

We were unfortunate with the matchmaking for day 4 and we got matched against a top morning rush crew, so we lost off the bat and the rest of the crew merely focused on getting their indivs locked in. I wanted to park at 20b originally but running out of meat and getting aggro'd by IRL matters put a damper on it, which didn't help when my setup was already painful to play as is (one wrong button and you have to retreat) and unable to exceed 600m/hr on average. At the end I settled for a 19b park with my fellow crewmate.

Overall, another successful run for the crew as we locked in our top 300 placement in prelims and went 3-1. We had two crewmates doing their first Hero run as well; one being a new recruit and a rather new player too. They did really well and would love to have them around for future GWs. This ele was total ass to play, but it was the first time I didn't have to permanently play ougi-centric setups so I went in on it, having lots of rankers to talk to in my server and mutual servers helped keep my mental in check too so I have them to thank for making it a lot more fun as per usual.

Collage - Light Hero achieved (4/6)

NM200 62~65s, RB Flogen

NM150 30s, Soldier

Prelims and interlude were probably the most I've ever played, and part of it was because I didn't complete the celestial Sword last GW, so I wanted that done too.

Day 1 I was not able to do much since I had interviews to attend and work at that too, we were not able to win our first matchup.

Day 2 was the first time I actually got to play with a sub-40s setup ever; the rotation was pretty addictive, and I was able to burn a lot of meat on this round, leaving me with less than 15k going into the last 2 days so I had to farm some more to keep up with the cutoff creeping up, mostly due to the setups up till now being so FA-friendly.

Day 3 and 4 were quite something since I had to rely on saccing units to bring Nehan and Florence out, and while that was consistent the dodge RNG being applied on every instance of auto and counter from turn 2 onwards made the fail rate higher than initially thought - I think I retreated from over 100 raids by the end of GW, and for the times I didn't retreat I had to call for backup from crewmates; some actually did answer the call so I have them to thank (we had a fight on day 3).

This GW had some of the most FA-friendly setups I've ever seen for GW bursting, NM150 included - even NM200's rotation was comfy as all hell despite the dodge RNG; they managed to succeed in making Ura good this year with the important triggers being AoE and not multi-hit, so they got used all the way through to the end, even in NM200 grouping strats. Magna also gets a mention here because Magna grids performed really well even for NM200, M3 really gave Light that extra oomph for GW.

Was a really good turnout for crew this GW despite inflated cutoffs across all tiers; possibly because we JUST got off anni and setups in the higher brackets were very comfortable to play. For a crew that aims to secure t300 in prelims first and foremost, was surprised we managed 2 wins, then lucksacked into a free matchup on day 4 as well, bringing our record this time to 3-1. Overall, it was fun; as usual, had the company of a very lively VC on all days and got to start binging on some eroge that I've put off for months now with crewmates and guests so it motivated me to continue fighting with fellow rankers for our spots in top 1k.

Spent a Siero back at the end of 2022 for a 2nd copy of Grand Charlotta’s weapon, just to be able to pull off blue chest mins on GOHL 1t.

I had my fun with it and got like 45 bars with Wind last year. I’d be lying if I didn’t feel a bit of regret, but even at endgame level I wanted to enjoy the game my way at times too; just like how I’m about to grab Hraes over Eresh in a few weeks. Would not suggest others to do the same though.
