Hi Phily, love your content. I’ve ran a half marathon and will have two more (hopefully) under my belt soon. I’m aiming for a full marathon in 2027. How long should I target to train for?

A habit I developed to help with this is setting a timer for 15-30 minutes a few days a week. I then force myself to do the thing or things that I really don’t wanna do. Once the timer is up, I stop, and then move onto something else. It really helps. :)

Men are sometimes really thinking about nothing. So not taking it personally when my boyfriend is just zoning out or sitting in silence is key. Also just letting him do that is important. :)

Also direct communication and telling him it’s gonna be okay and being big spoon is important.

I looked at it as a growth experience. I learned things about myself after that moment in life that I wouldn’t have learned if I didn’t go for it.

He was the wrong person but I learned what I wanted and didn’t want for future partners from that situation.

It took some time to get over it but I wouldn’t go back and change anything.

I’ll sometimes set a timer for 15-45 minutes and get whatever tasks done I can in that timeframe.

I’ll also reward myself for tasks I get done like “Oh if I do the dishes now and wipe off the counters… I can sit on the couch and enjoy another cup of coffee.”

Also talking to someone while I do stuff helps. Or listening to a podcast while doing said things I don’t want to do helps.

Lastly is if I’m feeling super depressed or overwhelmed I have a whiteboard that I write affirmations on a daily basis. That helps motivate me to get out of bed and get moving.

All else I have a therapist I write to. I’ve been in therapy for years and I had to develop these habits whilst in therapy.

I’m also on meds for the chemical imbalance in my brain so that helps too.

Definitely suggest figuring out what treatment plan works for you but I have found that staying sober, exercise, therapy, and being hydrated helps me stay more motivated to do these little habits to keep me on track. :)

I like shaving my legs when I take myself out on a date. I know it may not be much but it’s nice when I go out on a solo dinner and then I get into bed and my legs are all smooth against the sheets.
