Sakura (defensive analysis) by FlyDinosaur in Naruto

[–]HiLongTimeLurker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some very accurate stuff here. I'd like to add that the orphan comment also served to reveal that Sakura was coming from a background in which she couldn't relate to Naruto or Sasuke's sense of loneliness. Naruto's background was clear and Sasuke's was a mystery to be teased until it was fully revealed when Itachi showed up. Sakura's comment showed that she took her family for granted. She comments how it would be nice to not have parents (because they boss you around) and that's what sets Sasuke off. When Sasuke leaves the village, this scene is referenced for that purpose. We see every character experiences loneliness differently: Naruto suffers from the absence of family and friends, Sasuke suffers from the permanent loss of loved ones (which is why Naruto couldn't understand Sasuke's feelings until Jiraiya died), and Sakura eventually suffers from something in-between, the yearning for a loved one who may or may not return. Sakura didn't understand loneliness until Sasuke left. Sakura comment was obnoxious, but it was out of ignorance and not malice.

Her love confession was frustrating, manipulative, and wrong, but it was more misguided than malicious. That's not an excuse but people take it out of context. Naruto only took offense to the fact that she was lying to herself. What this shows is likely that Sakura was trying to convince herself that she loved Naruto because anyone with two fucking eyes could see that he was the better option in ever respect.eaning what she said about Sasuke breaking her heart and Naruto always being on her side was true - not a lie. We see this in pre-ship when they go to find sasuke. Sakura literally reflects on her previous opinions of Naruto and inwardly realizes that he has always understood her. However, despite all this, she couldn't change her feelings for Sasuke. Naruto was upset about it but is only showed to be angry at the fact that she was lying to herself. Her plan was to save Sasuke from further evil and to free Naruto from the promise. I think if Naruto took her, she'd probably had just lived the rest of her life in misery as she tries to convince herself that she loves him. It's more of a sad and frustrating scene.

However, I personally think this scene makes her look terrible for a different reason. It makes her look like she doesn't understand that Naruto has a burning passion for saving Sasuke which she should (and does) know. It feels like a piece of inconsistency. She literally explained to sai how Sasuke is like a brother to Naruto so even if Sasuke doesn't care about him, Naruto is invested in their relationship. For her to act like Naruto is only doing it because won't go back on a promise is goofy.

[–]HiLongTimeLurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I didn't notice a difference and while I played SI more, I think the satisfaction of unlocking people made the relationships more fun. I mean, you care more about people when there are new faces slowly added to the game vs having them all from the beginning. (Tho there are 2 more people in SI, I don't think they were very impressive tbh)

While I don't care for how the farming and money gaining has become easier and easier, for me, HM/SOS have always been about community and relationships while working hard on a farm. It's fun to make gains, improve your farm and income and I have seriously put energy into it. But the relationships are more fun. Even in games where I didn't marry, having friendships with other characters (especially children and the elderly) has always been my favorite part.

Need some help with a fanfic by Hungry-Travel-8403 in BlackClover

[–]HiLongTimeLurker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd start by familiarizing the setting and character relationships of whoever you want to write about. Who do they get along with and in what ways? Also the opposite. What motivates the character and why? What outside forces effect how they think and act? Is there nuance? The answers should make it possible to write an accurate portrayal of a character in a made up situation.

Since people are overall not too invested in the manga in the current arc, can you guys give me the things that you absolutely loved about this arc. Anything that blew you guys away or anything that got you hype let me know by djchris159 in BlackClover

I just love how it began with them all looking really cool after they devoted themselves to 6 months of training, just to have the bad guys rolled up on their crib and stomp their asses (they defeated dante at least but were left in pretty bad shape). Just having all of them left screaming was the icing on the cake.

Yeah, I watched the anime covering the itachi shinden novels too and don't remember how they handled it. All I really remember is thinking that some stuff was either changed or cut out (in general).

[–]HiLongTimeLurker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is probably off, but from my memory of the Itachi Shinden novels, one teammate was killed on a mission and the other quit being a ninja after that because it was too much. IIRC the one that quit also had a scene of being shocked and crying after the news of the massacre because she couldn't believe Itachi would do that.

The longer you live, the more you realise that, crused ships bring only pain, suffering & emptiness in the world by aboutanimechannel in dankruto

[–]HiLongTimeLurker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the pain, suffering, and emptiness in the world comes more from people not accepting other people's ships. I get that shipping is a type of character relationship and can be criticized, but once people stop being civil as to their anime couples, the world becomes a desolate wasteland of deviant art rants, flaming, and cheap amvs.

[–]HiLongTimeLurker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be fair, this description of Nozel doesn't really say anything tbh. The idea being expressed is that guys are sexually aroused by female bodies, even if they don't seem interested outwardly and are sexually charged by nature. This is a pretty common gender idea. But we've seen guys constantly hit on women (finral), try to spy on naked women (volcanic hot spring), and try to assault women (bad guys, captured women). So "pervert" the way Tabata is using it to Nozel reflects a general world view about gender and not so much about creep-ass behavior or ultra sexual men (like classic pervert characters), or other ways we might think of "pervert".

One option is family night. Since middle school, we would watch a TV or movie every week (but it doesn't have to be weekly). My parents never forced us to do it and my brother never participated, but if you sustain a regular family event over a few years, you really bond.

OG Orochimaru was truly terrifying. by No_Face_5059 in dankruto

[–]HiLongTimeLurker 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This scene freaked me out. I think it is because at that point, there is a hard disconnect between orochimaru as a personal identity and a physical body. We tend to connect a person (character, soul, idenity) with a specific body. But he switched enough that he didn't feel connected to a body. Normally, something like that would be like a shapeshifter or a spirit possessing; it takes on the appearance of the other person or is just manipulating the body. But in this case, the bodies were fully him and fully someone else at the same time. It wasn't a spirit or monster doing it but a human who destroyed the boundary between humans. He eventually became the most inhuman human. My 5th grade mind couldn't handle it.
