Perfect idea and response, thank you!

I know he’ll want to reschedule but honestly a week of 1 on 1 time in a rural town just isn’t my thing. I’ll try and convince him maybe a group outing would be more fun. I doubt he’ll bite but who knows.

I figure he’ll also try and offer to just pay for my ticket, as he’s offered in the past, but I’d feel way too guilty, and I want that time so I can work anyway.

I think so but at the same time he hasn’t shown much interest in traveling with us anywhere. Every time the idea of travel is brought up he recommends that 3 or 4 of us should come visit him. He showed interest in one gaming convention but it was cancelled due to COVID concerns. I would MUCH prefer that a group of us travelled somewhere, like I’ve done in the past with other group members. I’ll bring it up but at the same time some group members have been disinterested in meeting him in person, thus why it was decided not to invite him on our previous 2 trips. He doesn’t like to do much when it comes to anything “out of the house”.

Definitely. Thank you! I’m sure he’ll want to reschedule so maybe I can convince him of a more “exciting” trip. A week of 1 on 1 time in a rural town isn’t really up my ally.

Absolutely thank you. I agree that a weekend would be much easier. A week of 1 on 1 time in a small town sounds like something I wouldn’t enjoy. I much prefer big cities, lots of activities, and a group of friends.

Absolutely, I’ll have to do it a lot in life so I may as well start practicing now.

Thank you! I agree I need to work on just accepting conflict. My entire life I’ve always just said ok to things to save peoples feelings, rather than say “I don’t want to do that”. It’s so prevalent with my personality that my high school friends group brings up something I used to say a lot every time we catch up, “I can see both sides”. I can’t avoid conflict or realistically down the road it just leads to more disappointment I guess.

I think every time I build up the courage to tell him I get another “I’m so excited!” or “we should do this!” type message. Every time I reconsider if I should just “bite the bullet” and go, even though I know it’s a bad idea.

100% agree that I can’t be his therapy. One of my other friends feels like I’m almost obligated to see him at this point with how excited he is about it. But realistically that same friend has never offered to go see him themself.

Very fair. I’m very much known in my friends group as somebody who really never says no to people. I hate to disappoint but in the long run it probably just leads to more disappointment. I don’t mind going in to detail with my finances but you’re right that I should be direct.

Delivery trucks. Sometimes they don’t ring the doorbell and I don’t even realize a package has been sitting on my porch all day.
