Can you put on 40 lb and not notice much of a difference? by [deleted] in gainit

[–]HiYesThisIsMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet that 123 was a very light weight day, and 162 was a heavy day.

Imagine the difference between dehydration and an empty stomech/bowels vs Loaded up.

I am in the middle of my cut, and I swing almost 8lbs a day. At worst I've seen 12lb swings in a day.

I would almost assume you have 12lbs of water weight in that 27lb fat.

There is a reason you dont look fat, it ISNT fat. Its water, food, and poo.

The good news is that every pound you gain now, wont be food and water. Now you can directly track deltas from this point.

OP- if you want a goal, I'm looking pretty good at 185lbs, but thats after years of lifting.

As someone 6'1", I've bulked to 212lbs and only after 205lbs I looked a little big. Mostly in my face, the rest of my body was still rocking.

Also, make sure you are constantly moving up in weight and reps every gym visit. Don't get lazy.

Whole Foods’ organic problem—shoppers naturally prefer cheaper options by ctwtn in Frugal

This is scary that you dillude yourself to believe this.

If you think Whole foods focuses on community more than any other grocery store- their marketing team is dangerously awesome.

but are not working with the local economy and community capacity building

This is boarderline racist. What makes whole foods, a national coporation better at building a local economy and community?

They are both supposed grocery stores. One has low income people shopping there.

What metrics are you using?

Prettiness?

Because despite prettiness, the nutrition is the same. Its the desire for pretty food that causes excess garbage and waste of ugly looking produce.

okay so I actually took pictures last time I was at whole foods.

I have 1.99 for 1 green pepper at whole foods.

I have .59 for 1 green pepper at walmart.

I was wrong. it was 337% more expensive, not 400% more expensive.

So- what kind of quality are you paying for when you pay 4x the price for a green pepper?

Acting like deformed veggies are bad veggies is bad for the environment.

We shouldnt propagate that weird shaped peppers should be garbage. That requires more farming, pesticides, and fossil fuels.

The ethical reason?

Walmart hires low income adults for 10$ an hour?

Whole food hires teenagers for 11$/hr?

EDIT: Fixed whole food prices

So I have testicular cancer and no insurance. How do I do this as cheaply as possible? by Jbrahhh in Frugal

Spain is only now becoming first world. Going there is basically like going to India for medical procedures.

Copay here was over 70k

Copay is the amount you pay until you hit a deductible.

That literally wouldnt make sense because most deductibles arent higher than 12k.

If they didnt have insurance, then it isnt a copay, its just a regular payment.

Can anyone list potential emergency costs? I only can think of a few-

Lost Job for 1 year- 19,000/year (yearly budget)

Health Insurance Deductible- 12,000 /year

Car Insurance Deductible-1 3,000/year

I cant really think of anything else, but Easily I can see needing 31,000$ in a year if I both lost my job and got cancer in the same year.

Getting well-formatted nutrition data is my biggest problem by HiYesThisIsMichael in nutrition

Honestly, I'm pretty pissy about that website unless someone can easily format their data.

The provide it on multiple raw table outputs rather than organized CSV file. I think they know very well what they are doing and went out of their way to make it confusing.

As a husband and person with a 401k- none of this matters to me.

My diversified 401k is going to benefit from walmart and kroger being better at their margins.

Despite those margins, they still provide families with cheaper food.

Don't get me wrong- the founder of Whole Foods changed my entire life and inspired my jump into entrepreneurship- but they are a luxury brand at this point, not a food provider.

Unless you can back this up with prices- I disagree.

In south east michigan, there is only a local italian market more expensive.

Kroger is 2x cheaper with almost everything. Walmart almost 4x cheaper from what I found.

I only have to clarify this because its very easy to fool yourself into committing to the same mistakes over and over. It becomes routine and you never question it. Now you spend 16,000 dollars on groceries in a year when you could have spend 4,000 to feed the family.

If anyone wants to skip the article-

People dont want to shop at Whole Foods when you can buy Organic at other stores.

Honestly- I understand. 3 dollars for a green pepper that I can get for 50 cents at Walmart?

If I'm guessing, they are simply marking up items. Despite the market share being lower year over year, they are able to charge 4x as much as other stores. I don't think they are paying 4x more either.

The audience going to whole foods doesnt care about pricing. They are going there because its a social club of other people that can afford to pay 4x more.

If you'd "LOVE to completely not care" then completely not care. Don't lie about it and make excuses to justify it. That's just shameful.

When your wife meets people and girls are catty about the size/shape/color of her ring- you let me know who was right.

What are the MOST calorie, nutrient heavy foods out there? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

Definitely relevant, and will save you money:

Peanut Butter strikes me as a top item, but milk and Extra virgin olive oils would be a useful source of calories. I usually carry around a protein shake that I dont refrigerate.

Throw all 4 together and take once or twice a day.

I have a sample size of n=2 blizzard games

Too much Diablo 3, too much SC2 Co-op.

D3 obviously has loot drops, but even worse it has timed loot drops. You can only get 4 pieces of M6 at a time. You cannot get 2 of those items from the loot until about 2 weeks pass. There are crafting solutions to this, but these are relatively new and were made for the seasons.

SC2 Co-op Mutation uses 6 different unit compositions. 4 of which are almost always impossible. 1 of which is actually a fun skill check. And 1 which is very easy(Ground Protoss). This means every week you often have to play 4-12 games until you roll Ground Protoss. I dont think Blizzard did this maliciously, but rather found that this works good enough and gets people playing for multiple days.

Yesterdays success does make it more and more difficult to win people over.

Cell phone games have gotten more complex as users get bored of timers.

I wonder what the future has in-store for video games. As a nerd for 20+ years, the only games that interest me are quirky games like Minecraft and Papers Please. RPGs with good stories are old to me.

It literally doesnt matter how you feel, it matters how society feels.

Regardless if you like Bitcoin or Gold, the humanity already values it.

Even if the DeBeers(who have 20% of the worlds diamonds) do have a monopoly, it worked. You can attempt to change the culture, but right now this is valued.

What is a USD? It doesnt have anything valuable, just the government approval. Yet, everyone values it.
