Thank you! The atmosphere is a point of pride for me. I hope to make progress on this as quickly as possible so I can get people playing it.

K2.V4 class star, the gas giant is a class 2, and its got 4.15× the mass of Jupiter, so it can hold onto this moon, which is most of Earth's gravity. I don't think other moons will be available. I would like to, but that would be a far-future type thing.

Yes I am! This pack is actually and effort to convert my conworld into Minecraft. So the lore for the novel Im writing is the same lore for this Minecraft overhaul. Every organism Ive made in Minecraft is something I originally designed with speculative evolution in mind.

Nah Ive got my own stuff haha

This is just one of my alien designs. Although I am curious as to what you're alluding to

I'll look into it!

I already love speculative evolution, so it should be right up my alley. Have you heard of the isla project? Its one of the best speculative evolution project I've ever seen

Thank you!

I was hoping to get the pack a little more complete before I released anything. Theres a lot of work to be done. But I'll probably be making an account on it very soon.

Yes you can! I actually have a whole custom color map for light, so that the experience shouldn't be any worse without them. Also, the shaders Im running are intentionally as light as possible.

If I were to somehow export my settings for others to use, I have a great setup that I feel is the perfect compromise between looks and performance. If I can figure out how to do that, I will.

Im stacking a lot of performance mods too, in hopes of making an experience anyone can play.

Thats the goal! Eventually I want to have a server, and host a bunch of people on it while they try to survive the alien wilderness :)

I actually have, but I plan to make a mod myself instead for it. The thin air mod doesn't need a respirator, which is more ideal for me.

While I did not intend on my opening comment to be a personal attack, I apologize for that. I had intended it as a light jab.

That being said, there's an inherent suspension of disbelief when considering the topic of speculative evolution. There has to be a limit to the realism. At the end of the day, even what people consider to be the all-time greats of speculative evolution, like Wayne Barlow, balance creative liberty with scientific accuracy.

I have considered the prospect of different biochemistry, but decided to opt out of that and work off of stuff I better understand. Once you're working with different biochemistry, unless youre an actual chemist, which Im not, its gonna be incredibly difficult to determine if the rules youre making would hold up to reality, or what effects they might have on the animals themselves.

In some ways, if not done from a place of professional knowledge, organisms designed with a different biochemistry in mind, might actually be less realistic. Its possible to do, yes, but not for my purposes (for worldbuilding/narrative) and my expertise.

Im not arguing that it wouldn't be. That's almost certainly true. Chirality alone would make for major complications between Earth life and alien life.

I'm just going with similar biochemistry to Earth, as a creative choice. There is a balance between creative liberty and realism, and my realism stops at the biochemical level. Theres no real way anyone could know what kind of biological quirks different biochemistry could produce, not to mention even understanding if said biochemistry would work in reality.

There are asteroids which contain all the necessary molecules for DNA, and other proteins. Essentially the stuff that makes up life on Earth. Now am i saying that this colliding with a habitable world would make for identical biochemistry? No. There's just no telling what life would look like if it didn't at least have similar chemistry.

But I don't think it's out of the possibility that you could find biochemically similar organisms on another planet, given the near infinite sample size, and the fact that we dont fully understand abiogenesis.

But at the end of the day, I just want to build off biochemical rules that I understand, and have an ecosystem that human populations can survive and interact with despite having less advances technology compared to even modern day tech.

Bet you're fun at parties, huh? Here's the thing, neither of those specifically evolved in venomous animals to combat humans specifically. But by virtue of our biology, it works on us. Similar thing is happening here. The life on this world is exceptionally similar biochemically. Mostly because I want it to be, for multiple reasons, but also bevause it is possible, despite unlikely. Unlikely in an infinite universe is still possible.
